Racecourse : Kempsey (Australia)

Kempsey racecourse, built in 1896, is the home of the Kempsey Race Club.Located 350km north of Sydney on the NSW north Coast, Kempsey racing had many years in recess before its rebirth in 1966.
The late famous racecaller Ken Howard had a connection to the region and was instrumental in its resurrection as the Macleay River Turf Club. It was renamed Kempsey Race Club in 1992. Kempsey Race Club conducts five race meetings each year including the Kempsey Cup meeting in November.

Kempsey racecourse is an undulating circuit with a tight circumference of 1580 metres and short home straight of 300 metres. There is a dip at the 1000m and from there a long curving run of 600 metres to the home turn.Races over 1000m, 1250m, 1450m and 1900m start from short chutes. Most riders start their runs 500m from the finish.
