Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canberra, Coonamble, Ascot, Echuca, Stony Creek, Sunshine Coast, Esperance and Clare.

CANBERRA: RACE 7 @ 4:21PM

A very competitive national sprint. Aim (2) has been freshened off the 3.5L defeat in a rich feature at the Gold Coast. Has trialled sharply at Randwick since and the Snowden barn doesn't miss often when they come here. CHAT (1) will be improved third-up off Group 3s the latest on a heavy track when just in the market. He will settle back but his peak figures would win this and fitter he gets the nod on the 9-day return. ASHMAN (3) is third-up and will find this easier that Group level. He's a winning chance at best and no surprise if he finds it. JAILBREAK (8) gets weight relief off the near-miss at Warwick Farm. Clark can give him the run of the race and he looks capable of making the frame. SELECTIONS: Going with Aim.

COONAMBLE: RACE 2 @ 12:55PM

Soopat (7) travelled on-pace on debut last time at Tamworth over 1000m but found one marginally better. Will take a lot from that run and with McDonald to steer from gate one he is perfectly placed to open his account. DRIVING FORCE (2) is fresh from a last-start fourth, beaten 2 lengths, over 1100m at Dubbo. Very fit after two runs back from a spell and gets a good gate for the first time this prep. Ready to win. NICE WATER (5) was in the market first up but could only manage fourth over 1000m at Tamworth last start. Made good late ground last time so the slightly longer trip should suit. Among the winning hopes. MCLELLAN (4) is a nine-start maiden who third when resuming last start, beaten 1.75 lengths over 1100m at Dubbo. Definite chance with that run under the belt. SELECTIONS: Making #7 Soopat an each-way special.

ASCOT: RACE 2 @ 2:34 PM

Sneaky Chance (7) won't know herself in a maiden after taking on Group company last time in. Had just under a year off but was a nice trial winner recently and if the support is there she could be the one. Drawn to have her chance. LUCKY LANDING (2) is the one to beat on recent form after a close third at Pinjarra a few weeks back. Go well. ATABOY CHARLIE (6) is in good hands and found a nice race to debut in. Recent trial was okay and pay to keep safe. WOMMEL WOCK (3) and WARPIPES (1) are next best. SELECTIONS: Sneaky Chance to win. Trifecta 7-1,2,3,6/1,2,3,6.

ECHUCA: RACE 6 @ 4:00PM

Mynumerouno (8) appeals in a race of exposed form. He resumed with a strong win over 955m at Moonee Valley and looks better suited at 1200m. He boasts a win over Group 3 winner Generation and anything like that will be hard to beat here. BEEHUNTER (6) has talent but generally gets back in the field. He'll need a good ride from barrier 9 but with the right tempo will be charging late. CAN'T BE DONE (4) was sound at Flemington last time and whilst he doesn't win often he's generally thereabouts. ASHLOR (1) finished last at Moonee Valley last time but 955m isn't his ideal distance these days and he can improve. SELECTIONS: Mynumerouno to win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 1 @ 12:20PM

Next Dimension (1) has been just behind the placings in two runs since resuming from a spell, the latest when fifth over 1350m at Doomben. Should be peaking now and in this easier race a win looks on the cards. DREAM SONG (3) settled back last start in a small field before passing a couple to finish third, albeit beaten 6 lengths, over 1350m at Ipswich. Expected to prove tough to hold out over this more suitable trip. ELEUTHERA (4) finished third when resuming from a six-month spell last time over 1640m at Toowoomba, beaten 3.5 lengths. Plenty of improvement to come second-up. Don't underestimate. DARCHINIAN (2) was beaten 6 lengths when fifth last time over 1400m at this track. Very fit gelding who should appreciate getting to the mile for the first time. Hard to make a case for the others, headed by MISTER WARD (6). SELECTIONS: #1 Next Dimension looks better than these - win bet.

CLARE: RACE 7 @ 5:00PM

Bignota (4) looks well placed to make it two on end having won nicely over this trip in this grade last start. He'll make his own luck on speed and should take running down again. ARCHWAY TO HEAVEN (2) is yet to miss a place at the track in five starts including two wins. He returned to winning ways last start in easier grade and despite an awkward draw he can run well again. ALL IN WAR (1) will find this much easier than recent assignments in town and although she's a query at this trip she warrants plenty of respect. SAND CAT (7) rarely runs a bad race and has only missed a place once in five starts at the track including two wins. Back each way. WINE FROM TEARS (6) has been thereabouts at her past three starts and creates interest back to this trip with the Blinkers off and jumping from an inside gate. Keep safe. SELECTIONS: Bignota can win again.
