GOSFORD November 25

Course Proper; Good 4

13 Heats – 5 x 1000m (2 Open; 3 Maiden); 8 x 800m (2 2YO; 3 Open; 3 Maiden)

Some nice trials at this set from unexposed maidens and 2YOs, the most notable being the heat winners MOUNT FUJI, REPEAL and MAREEBA. In the open heats NICTOCK and ON HER WORD recorded notable wins in the 800m heats while the classy Godolphin trio AQUITAINE, TAILLEUR and KORDIA took the eye with their soft trials.

MAREEBA (Brad Widdup): Suspect Hugh Bowman will be keen to stay with this unraced Not A Single Doubt filly when she makes her debut after riding her in her impressive first trial appearance. Led at her leisure and was never under full throttle to record a slick 1.9 lengths win in her 800m heat in fast time (48.15; 34.05).

MOUNT FUJI (Peter & Paul Snowden): This Snitzel colt cost $2.8 million as a yearling and has been patiently handled since his only start as a 2YO last season. This was his third trial since that debut run and lot to like about the way he settled back in the field in his 1000m heat before stretching out when taken to the outside to record a strong win in the easily the quickest of the three maiden heats over the distance (60.35; 35.24). Definitely a work in progress.

NICTOCK (Marc Conners): Lost his way last campaign but looks set for a good prep after a sharp 800m heat win in his first outing since August. His natural pace saw him lead under no pressure, holding a clear advantage to score by a soft 1.86 lengths win in 48.74 (34.27). Could have gone quicker.

REPEAL (Peter and Paul Snowden): Capitalist youngster from the Magic Millions sale did all that was required to win his first trial, leading comfortably and running out a strong 2.23 lengths winner of his 800m heat with his time (49.53; 34.58) more than a second quicker than the 2YO fillies heat. Stable knows how to get them ready for the MM Classic in January.

NOTED TRIALS

X Aquitaine; Dissolute; Having A Ball; Hurt Money; Kordia; Linguee; On Her Word; Oxford Tycoon; Patrina; Selica; Tailleur; The Neon Knight; Tinka's Lad; Underboss, Zoffany's Lad

RANDWICK November 24

Randwick A Grass/Polytrack; Soft 5

16 Heats – Grass 1 x 1200m (Open); 7 x 1045m (1 2YO; 3 Open; 3 Maiden); 7 x 735m (4 2YO; 1 Open; 2 Maiden) Polytrack 1 x 1080m (Open)

CANTON KID (Mark Newnham): Easy provincial maiden winner in July and set to resume after two recent Randwick trial wins. Pulled his way to the front after 200m in this 1045m heat and after travelling strongly extended easily for a soft 1.8 lengths win while posting the quickest time for the seven heats over the trip (61.70; 33.61), being the only heat winner to go under 62 seconds.

SUMMERBEEL (Waterhouse/Bott): Savabeel filly is showing sharp precocity for her breeding, improving off a placing in her first trial on November 10 to travel easily in this 735m heat (43.39; 33.09) and score with plenty in hand by two lengths from an eye catching runner-up GIRL MANIA. Best of the four 2YO heats at this session.

XX Canton Kid; Summerbeel

X Cochrane; Exoboom; Discharged; Ghost Hunter; Girl Mania; Jimmy's Dream; Madam Legend; Passistas; Robodira; Smart Image; Vadiyann; Windsweep; Zarastro; Zou De Moon; Zouspectre
