TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL May 20: Promising Starspangledbanner filly PETULANT won two of her first three starts in the summer and should go on with it after a super win in her 900m heat for 3YOs. Showed excellent acceleration to come from off the speed and quickly make up four lengths in the last 200m, running easily past the leaders for a soft win in fast time (55.10; 35.15). OMAR is a sharp short course runner who posted the quickest 900m heat time (54.35; 34.52) in a strong open trial. Previously noted 2YO trial winner CAPPELLETTI remains under notice after repeating with a solid win in his heat, passing an embargo for his previous barrier behaviour.

GOSFORD May 18: In the five 2YO heats over 800m the Allan Denham-trained RAMONES, a Zoustar gelding having his second trial, showed the speed that wins races by clearing out to a big seven lengths win (49.70; 35.60). The merit of his performance is on the clock as no other youngster went under 50 seconds in the 800m heats.

RANDWICK May 16: The 2YO heats over 1050m on the A grass saw strong win from the talented KIBOU (66.01; 37.08). The Waterhouse/Bott youngster was unplaced in the Breeders Plate when well fancied in his only appearance at the start of the season but is unbeaten in three trials and it's obvious he has the talent to win races.

WARWICK FARM May 9: Panzer Division filly LADY FRAULEIN failed at her only start on a soft track in September but she has had won two her three subsequent trials with her strong victory in this 790m heat in fast time (46.27; 36.40) underlining that she will be hard to beat in a suitable maiden.

ROSEHILL April 29: The 900m heat winner CAPPELLETTI (56.42; 35.30), a Capitalist colt who has joined the Ryan/Alexiou stable from Gary Moore, took the eye. This was his best effort in three trials and he can gallop but has issues as he picked up a suspension after giving them plenty of problems at the barriers before this trial.
