RANDWICK July 26

Polytrack; Synthetic

8 Heats – 4 x 1080m (1 Group/Listed; 1 Open; 1 2YO; 1 Maiden); 4 x 780m (1 Open; 3 2YO)

Another set on the poly while the grass tracks make a slow recovery from the winter deluge.

A few more Group stars made an early start to their spring preps with easy trials. Top class mare FORBIDDEN LOVE did it well to travel three wide in her four horse heat over 1080m (65.20; 34.35) and do just enough to get the upper hand on the line from a strong COUNT DE RUPEE and the leader EXPAT. ICEBATH did her best work through the line.

DIAMOND FLARE (Mark Newnham): Yet another impressive trial from this frustrating rogue. He has won five trials since March yet has managed just one race start in 18 months as he has been under embargoes several times for his barrier behaviour and failing to jump. He again jumped to the front - he seems do it well in trials – and sped away to win the fastest 1080m heat by 4.5 lengths (64.04; 34.91). Obviously has the ability but you will have to take him on trust when he eventually lines up at the races.

KING OF NAPLES (John O'Shea): Your Song youngster failed to run to expectations in his first two starts in March and April but take him on his form in four trials and he'll be winning races. This was a classy heat win over 780m (46.26; 33.46) going to the line strongly to hold off a good second from the classy Reisling Stakes winner SEVEN VEILS.

NOTED TRIALS

XX Diamond Flare; King of Naples

X Absolute Star; Count De Rupee; Desert Icon; Forbidden Love; Junquiera; Insurrection; Miss Faberge; Repeal; Russbuss; Seven Veils; Time To Boogie; Zou Tiger.

WARWICK FARM July 22

Polytrack/ Synthetic

13 Heats – 2 x 1175m (1 Open; 1 C1/Maiden); 11 x 740m (1 Open; 2 3YO; 6 2YO; 2 Maiden)

An early reminder that the spring is fast approaching with the reappearance of several notable Group stars in open heats over 740m.

Nothing was out to break records on the polytrack with the trials serving as nice warms ups for the likes of ANAMOE, CASCADIAN and PROFONDO.

ANAMOE worked well within himself tracking deep for a soft third in a slow 740m heat won by SHOCKING FORCE (44.62; 33.80).

They went quicker in the heat dominated from the front by NOT ANOTHER REIBY (43.12; 32.95) with PROFONDO and CASCADIAN having a quiet time sitting back through the first 600m and doing their best work through the line, especially the latter who was asked to stretch out for 400m past the post. The ex-Godolphin runner MUNITIONS broke away with the winner and looked good finishing second in his first trial for his new trainer Richard Litt.

EMBRACER (Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott): Backed up a sharp trial win at Randwick on July 8 with a brilliant display to run away with his 1175m heat by more than eight lengths (69.77; 34.44); Took up the running under a big hold before Regan Bayliss let him rip from the 500m where he exploded away from the chasers with an impressive burst of acceleration. Obviously primed to perform first-up.

LAURELIN (James Cummings): Has a win from only four starts and positive the best is to come from this 3yo filly by Lonhro. Sat three wide in her 740m heat and had plenty in reserve getting the upper hand over the last 50 metres in good time (43.59; 33.45).

NOTED TRIALS

XX Embracer; Laurelin

X Anamoe; Black Iris; Cascadian; Conqueror; Decimus; Esky; Forms Of Fear; Ignacio; Jewellery; Magic Carpet; Munitions; Not Another Reiby; Overthrow; Romeus; Shocking Force; Silvanito.
