Daughter of Shamus Award out to add second Oaks to record
Last-start Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Media Award (Shamus Award) will attempt to add another Oaks victory to her record when she tackles the Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2200m) at Eagle Farm on June 5.
Trainer Chris Calthorpe has said the filly has come through her latest victory in good order, giving him the confidence to push on through to Queensland.
"We fly out here Tuesday fortnight, on the 1st (of June) and then run on the 5th," Calthorpe told Racing.com.
"She pulled up really well, really happy with her and she's shown no signs of any reason to stop. At the moment it's onwards and upwards."
Jockey Luke Nolen will ride Media Award between races at Geelong on Friday and Calthorpe is hopeful he will commit to the trip north to ride the horse.
The trainer purchased up six yearlings at the recent Inglis Gold sale, while new owners have jumped on board his boutique stable.
"I've got a couple of new clients which is good, we got a couple ourselves and Mark Arrowsmith bought a few," he said.
"We've walked away with six and we are happy with what we bought, so we will be around for the immediate future, that's for sure."
