Undefeated three-year-old Cream Rises (Fastnet Rock) will have his first look at metropolitan company on Saturday in the Benchmark 72 (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

The son of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) broke his maiden in easily, winning almost 5 lengths, before backing it up with a one and three quarter length win at Wyong last start.

With his benchmark rating now beginning to soar, Gosford-based Kylie Gavenlock believes this is a step in the right direction for her progressive galloper.

"He's up at a benchmark now, where he'd probably be carrying the grandstand if he stays in the provincials," she said.

"So we'll give him a chance, it's a benchmark 72, only a three-year-old race so it seems like a nice step to the next step.

"I think he'll really appreciate a bigger track. I just hope the rain holds off a bit. I don't think he's as good on a heavy track as he is on a soft or on top of the ground.

"I think next time in too he'll get over a bit more ground."

The Strawberry Hills Stud-raced son of Fastnet Rock is only two starts into his career, with the experience of racing going to be beneficial for the three-year-old.

"From the first time I galloped him (I knew he was good)," she said.

"Whilst he went very well, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed and he hadn't put it all together. But what he did, he did on raw ability.

"I knew it was just a matter of giving him some time so that he could put it all together."
