Former Coolmore Australia shuttler Caravaggio sires his first stakes winner

51 for Deep Impact
Two days after Snowfall won the Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) at Epsom becoming her sire’s 50th Group / Grade 1 winner, Danon Kingly (5 h ex My Goodness by Storm Cat) notched up the 51st Group 1 winner for Deep Impact (Sunday SIlence) when he won the Yasuda Kinen (Gr 1, 1600m) at Tokyo. The Kiyoshi Hagiwara-trained entire beat favourite Gran Alegria, who is also by Deep Impact, by a head. 

 

First for Caravaggio
Former Coolmore Australia shuttler Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) sired his first stakes winner on Sunday when Dizzy Bizu (2 f ex Izzy Bizu by Kodiac) won the Prix la Fleche (Listed, 1000m) at Chantilly. The Stephane Wattel-trained filly became the fourth winner for her sire when she won on debut over course and distance last month and on Sunday beat Anterselva (Fast Company) by a length and three quarters. Caravaggio shuttled to Australia for just one season in 2019 and has now sired six winners in his first European-bred crop. He leads the European first season sires table by earnings ahead of Ardad (Kodiac). 

 

205 for Duabwi
The Lady Bamford-owned Thunder Dream (3 f ex Great Heavens by Galileo) won Sunday’s Prix de Royaumont (Gr 3, 2400m) at Chantilly and in doing so became the 205th stakes winner for Darley’s Dubawi (Dubai Millennium). Dubawi’s stakes winners tally includes 44 Group 1 winners and he is represented at stud in Australia by Ghaiyyath, Too Darn Hot and Akeed Mofeed. 

 

57 for Acclamation
A day after siring his 25th Group winner, Acclamation (Royal Applause) notched up stakes winner number 57 when Louliana (3 f ex Rosie’s Premiere by Showcasing) won the Prix Marchand d’Or (Listed, 1200m) at Chantilly. Coachello (Dunkerque), who started favourite, was beaten a length and a quarter for second. Acclamation stands at Rathbarry Stud in Ireland where his 2021 fee was advertised at €27,500. 

 

155 for Pivotal
Cheveley Park’s now pensioned sire Pivotal (Polar Falcon) sired his 155th stakes winner on Sunday when Kaspar (4 c ex Kastila by Sternkoenig) won the Gorsser Preis der RP Gruppe (Gr 2, 2200m) at Mulheim. A homebred for Gestut Rottgen, Kaspar beat Grocer Jack (Oasis Dream) by one and three quarter lengths with Only The Brave (Iffraaj) third. Pivotal was pensioned from stallion duties earlier this year at the age of 28 having stood his entire stallion career at Newmarket’s Cheveley Park Stud. 

 

17 for Arcano
Eulaila’s (3 f ex Eubea by Pounced) victory in Sunday’s Premio Oaks d’Italia (Gr 2, 2200m) at San Siro provided her sire Arcano (Oasis Dream) with his 17th stakes winner. Arcano’s stakes winners include six Group 3 winners and Eulaila became her sire’s first Group 2 winner when she defeated Cima Star (Sea The Stars) by a length. Anoush (Isfahan) was third. 

 

First for Jimmy Creed
Casa Creed (5 h ex Achalaya by Bellamy Road) became the first Grade 1 winner for Spendthrift sire Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor)when he won Saturday’s Jaipur Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) at Belmont Park. Trained by Bill Mott, Casa Creed scored a two length victory over stablemate Chewing Gum (Candy Ride). Casa Creed is one of 15 stakes winners for Jimmy Creed who stood at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky this year for US$10,000 and he shuttled to Australia for five seasons between 2015 and 2019. 

 

14 for Hard Spun
Former Darley shuttler Hard Spun (Danzig) sired his 14th Grade 1 winner on Saturday when Silver State (4 c ex Supreme by Empire Maker) won the Metropolitan Handicap (Gr 1, 8f) at Belmont Park. Silver State is one of 84 stakes winners for his sire that include three-time Group 1 winner le Romain as well as Makybe Diva (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Gatting.
