16th stakes winner for Trade Fair while first season sires Awesome Rock, Winning Rupert and Star Turn record new winners

16th Stakes winner for Trade Fair
The Jason Miller-trained Naughty By Nature (4 m ex Catrenza by Star Way) won Saturday’s Strickland Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) at Belmont becoming the 16th stakes winner for the late Alwyn Park Stud-based stallion Trade Fair (Zafonic).  Stakes placed previously, Naughty By Nature who was bought by her trainer for $26,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the draft of Toreby Park, has now won five times and placed in another nine of her 21 career starts. On Saturday, she scored a three quarter length victory over Uni Time (Universal Ruler) with Dance Music (War Chant) another length and a half away in third. 

 

Second winner for Awesome Rock
Gold Front stallion Awesome Rock recorded his second first crop winner on Saturday when Searchin’ Roc’s (2 f ex Still Searchin’ by Trade Fair) won over 1200 metres at Belmont. Having her second career start having finished midfield on debut over 1000 metres at Belmont earlier this month, Searchin’ Roc scored by a length and a half over Wise Words (Zoustar). Awesome Rock’s fee is advertised at $6,500 (inc GST). 

 

14th winner for Star Turn
Vinery Stud’s Star Turn (Star Witness) recorded his 14th winner on Saturday when Beautiful Tune (2 f ex Ad Lib by Authorized) won the Patron Bill Ware Maiden Plate (1010m) at Mareeba. Trained by Bonnie Thomson, Beautiful Time scored by a long neck over Soul Searcher (Wandjina). Star Turn is sitting second behind Capitalist (Written Tycoon) in the leading first season sires table in Australia by winners. He will stand for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) this spring.

 

Eight for Winning Rupert
Newgate Farm's Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) notched up winner number eight when the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Preemptory (2 c ex Tears by Stromberg Carlson) broke his maiden over 1200 metres at Newcastle on Saturday. Having his third career start, Preemptory beat Mirror One (Iffraaj) by a head. The colt was bought for $180,000 by Ciaron Maher Racing and Astute Bloodstock at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Daandine Stud.
