75 for I Am Invincible
Racing on debut, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Cythera (2 f ex Helena’s Secret by Five Star Day) beat favourite, Lady Laguna (Overshare), in Saturday's Lonhro Plate (Listed, 1000m) at Randwick and in doing so provided her Yarraman Park-based sire, I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), with his 75th stakes winner and 37th two-year-old stakes winner.

Cythera was bought for $420,000 by IRON and George Moore Bloodstock at last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when offered by Highgrove Stud. She is out of the winning Five Star Day (Carson City) mare Helena’s Secret, making her a half-sister to Thronum (Snitzel). Last weekend, juvenile filly Queen Of The Ball provided I Am Invincible with his 74th stakes winner. He is currently the leading sire in Australia by winners and second in the table by earnings behind Nicconi (Bianconi).

Two for Xtravagant
Xtravagant Star (2 f ex She’s A Danica by Sebring) scored an impressive victory in Saturday’s Inglis Millennium (RL, 1100m) at Randwick and in doing so became the second stakes winner for Newhaven Park’s Xtravagant (Pentire). The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained filly beat favourite, Paris Dior (Pierro), by a length and three quarters, with Sejardan (Sebring) third.

Bred and now part-owned by Seymour Bloodstock, Xtravagant Star a $150,000 purchase by McEvoy Mitchell and Belmont Bloodstock at last year’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Newhaven Park and she is one of four winners from as many foals to race out of the Sebring (More Than Ready) mare She’s A Danica, that include Xtravagant Star’s Listed winning three-year-old brother He’s Xceptional. Xtravagant has four lots catalogued for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale which begins on Sunday.

Five for Capitalist
Last season’s champion first season sire Capitalist (Written Tycoon) recorded his fifth stakes winner first from his second crop when Sebonack (2 c ex Profound Wisdom by Al Samer) won the Chairman’s Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) at Caulfield on Saturday. Sebonack, who is trained by Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, beat Nanagui (Sebring) by a length and a quarter. Sebonack a $260,000 buy by Spendthrift Australia from the draft of Sledmere Stud at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year.

Capitalist’s stakes winners are headed by his Champagne Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winning son Captivant and his first two crops include 12 stakes placegetters. The Newgate Farm-based sire is sitting at the head of the second season sires table in Australia for both earnings and winners. He has 39 lots catalogued for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Four for Ghibellines
In winning Saturday’s Dunedin Guineas (Listed, 1500m) at Wingatui, Palmetto (3 g ex Carolina Island by Darci Brahma) became the fourth stakes winner for the White Robe Lodge-based Ghibellines (Shamardal). The gelding beat Shameless Tart (Shamexpress) by two and a quarter lengths and recorded his second win in seven starts. Ghibellines’ leading earner is his Group Two winning son Markus Aurelius. He stood for a fee of NZ$5,000 (plus GST) in 2021.

18 for Shocking
A week after recording his 17th stakes winner, Rich Hill Stud’s Shocking (Street Cry) notched up his 18th when Kilowatt (8 g ex Princess Latifah by Flying Spur) won the Dunedin Gold Cup (Listed, 2400m) at Wanganui on Saturday. Starting at odds of 14-1, Kilowatt, who was LIsted placed previously, beat Riviera Rock (Road To Rock) by two lengths. Shocking’s stakes winners are headed by Group One winners Fanatic and I’m Thunderstruck.
