China Horse Club added to the team of colts it has purchased in partnership with Newgate Farm and Trilogy Racing when it spent up on a son of Deep Field on Day 1 of the Inglis Premier Sale.

The partnership paid $520,000 for the colt from the Mossman mare Mossin' Around, who was prepared for sale by Gilgai Farm.

He adds to the list that China Horse Club, Newgate and Trilogy have bought together, which includes $775,000-plus colts by I Am Invincible, Snitzel and Written Tycoon at the Gold Coast and the Classic Sale-topping son of Extreme Choice.

"We've had a great partnership with Newgate for a long time and Trilogy's come on board this year and it's going exceedingly well so far, so we're really looking forward to racing with them," China Horse Club's Michael Smith said.

"It takes a lot of bullets to go to war so we're assembling our stable for next year and the year after and looking forward to trying to continue the success we've had on the track with horses like Wild Ruler, In The Congo and Russian Revolution, who is doing the job at stud now."

The Gilgai colt was the second son of Deep Field the partnership have paid just over $500,000 for this year, along with a $530,000 buy on the Gold Coast, and Smith said the Premier colt had many appealing factors.

"We're big believers in Deep Field and we loved this colt. He was a good moving colt, very masculine, good pedigree, good shape, exactly the kind of colt we're looking to purchase," Smith said.

The Deep Field colt was the second $500,000-plus lot of Day 1 at Premier, following the Yarraman Park-prepared I Am Invincible colt who sold for $550,000.

The son of Pins mare Mark Two, who is a half-sister to Hong Kong Derby runner-up Victory Magic (by Savabeel), who raced as Atmosphere in Australia, was bought by Craig Rounsefell on behalf of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
