Gelding hands Leroidesanimaux 26th stakes winner
Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) entrant Le Don De Vie (4 g ex Leaderene by Selkirk) landed his first stakes race as he took out the August Stakes (Listed, 1m3½f) at Windsor on Saturday and in the process became the 26th stakes winner for Leroidesanimaux (Candy Stripes).
Owned by Aziz Kheir and trained by Hughie Morrison, the gelding, who was last seen running third in the Glorious Stakes (Gr 3, 1m4f) and he kept on stoutly to beat Communique (Casamento) by a length and three-quarters while Desert Encounter (Halling) was another half a length away in third.
The gelding was purchased his former trainer Andrew Balding for 50,000gns at Book 2 of the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, before being snapped up by his owner, Howson/Houldsworth Bloodstock and Group 1 Bloodstock for £460,000 2019 Goffs Ireland London Sale.
Le Don De Vie is out of the six time-winning Selkirk (Sharpen Up) mare Leaderene, who is herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner Lucidor (Zafonic) and Prix de l'Opera (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Lady Marian (Nayef), who in turn produced Group 2 winner Loxley (New Approach).
Leroidesanimaux’s progeny is headed by two elite level winners, including former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Animal Kingdom and he died in 2016 after a paddock accident at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket.

Earlier on in the afternoon, Brad The Brief (3 g ex Kenzadargent by Kendargent) bounced back to winning ways to land the Hopeful Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Newmarket on Saturday and in the process handed Cheveley Park resident Dutch Art (Medicean) with his 38th stakes winner.
Having finished ninth in a handicap at Chester on his last start on August 9, the gelding was stepping up into stakes company for the first time and the Tom Dascombe-trained three-year-old gelding just got up in the final stages to beat Summerghand (Lope De Vega) by a neck, while Highland Dress (Shamardal) finished another length away in third.
The gelding is out of Listed winning mare Kenzadargent (Kendargent) and she is herself a daughter of Quiza Bere (Epistolaire).
Quiza Bere herself is a half-sister to Listed winner Bartex (Groom Dancer) and the dam of dual Grade 2 winner Flamboyant (Peer Gynt).
Dutch Art stood for a private fee in 2020.
