Testa wins Prix de la Cochere
The Rathbarry Stud-based sire Acclamation (Royal Applause) was represented by his 55th stakes winner when Testa (4 m ex Tecla by Whipper) landed the Prix De La Cochere (Listed, 1600m) at Longchamp on Thursday.
Having the 13th start of her career - and third start at stakes level - the mare came out on top of a blanket finish to beat Fonthill Abbey (Dubawi) by a short-head, while Alzire (Shamardal) finished another length and a quarter away in third.
Purchased by Meridian International for €185,000 at the 2016 Goffs Ireland November Foal Sale, the four-year-old mare is one of four winners out of two time-winning mare Tecla (Whipper).
Tecla herself out of Listed winner Mahalia (Danehill), making her a half-sister to Group 3-winning pair Johnny Barnes (Acclamation) and Albisola (Montjeu).
Mahalia is the grandam of dual Group 1 winner Ectot (Hurricane Run), fellow elite winner Most Improved (Lawman), Group 3-winning pair Thikriyaat (Azamour) and Daban (Acclamation) and Listed winners Chartreuse (Lawman), Fortunique (Soldier Of Fortune).
Acclamation stood for a fee of €35,000 in 2020.
