The Michael O'Callaghan-trained Trusted Ally (2 c ex Quiet Queen by Sulamani) shed his maiden status at the fourth time of asking as he took out a maiden over a mile at Gowran Park on Saturday and handed Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) with his 12th first-crop winner.

The two-year-old colt was last seen running fifth in the Futurity Stakes (Gr 2, 7f) and prevailed in a close finish to beat Sir William Bruce (Galileo) by a head, while the Lloyd Williams-raced Grid (Siyouni) finished another two and a quarter lengths away in third.

Trusted Ally was purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock for 49,000gns at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, before being snapped up by his trainer for £64,000 at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale earlier this year.

The colt is out of the unraced Sulamani (Hernando) mare Quiet Queen, who is herself a sister to dual Group 1 winner Mastery, while she is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Kirkless (Jade Robbery).

Quiet Queen’s other half-sister produced 2014 Eclipse (Gr 1, 1m2f) winner Mukhadram (Shamardal) and dual Group 3 winner Magic Artist (Iffraaj).

The stallion’s first-crop also includes stakes-placegetters Fulgentia, Teresa Mendoza and Terrible Land and the son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) is standing at Darley’s Kelvinside base at a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).
