The David Menuisier-trained Wonderful Tonight (3 f ex Salvation by Montjeu) handed her sire Le Havre (Noverre) with his fifth top-flight winner as she landed the Prix De Royallieu (Gr 1, 2800m) at Longchamp on Saturday.

A winner of the Prix Minerve (Gr 3, 2500m) in August, the three-year-old filly was last seen running fifth in the Prix Vermeille (Gr 1, 2400m) and she bounced back to winning ways when beating Pista (American Pharoah) by a length and a quarter. Ebaiyra (Distorted Humor) was another five lengths further adrift in third.

Wonderful Tonight is a half-sister to three winners including Listed scorer Penjade (Air Chief Marshal), being out of the three-time winning Montjeu (Sadler’s Wells) mare Salvation. Her second dam is Listed winner Birdie (Alhaarth) who produced five winners including Grade 3 winner Hostess (Iffraaj).

Further back this is the family of multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Camelot (Montjeu) and last season’s Easter Cup (Gr 3, 2000m) winner Inverloch (Fastnet Rock).

Le Havre stands at Montfort et Preaux where his 2020 fee was set at €50,000. Wonderful Tonight joins La Cressonniere, Avenir Certain, Suedois and Villa Marina as the stallion’s other stakes winners and he is also the winner of dual Australian Group 3 winner Auvray.
