Just Beautiful makes winning debut at Kempton
Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) continued to make his mark in the northern hemisphere as Just Beautiful (2 f ex Astrelle by Makfi) shed her maiden tag at the first time of asking in over seven furlongs at Kempton and in the process became the tenth northern hemisphere-bred first crop winner for the former Coolmore Stud shuttler.
Trained by Ivan Furtado, the two-year-old filly showed her class and her rivals a clean pair of heels, drawing clear to beat Daphne May (Mayson) by a decisive five lengths, while She's A Lion (The Last Lion) was another half a length away in third.
Purchased by her trainer and Doncaster Racing for 8,000gns at Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale from the Hazelwood Bloodstock draft, the filly is out of winning Makfi (Dabawi) mare Astrelle, making her a half-sister to Fearless King (Kingman) - the winner of this season’s Cologne Mehl Mülhens Rennen (German 2,000 Guineas) (Gr 2, 1600m).
Astrelle herself is a daughter of Miss Mariduff (Hussonet) and she produced seven other winners, headed by Listed-winning duo Porsenna (Dylan Thomas) and Basileus (Dream Ahead).
Further back, this is the same family as Group 2 winner Sopran Mariduff (Persian Bold), Brazilian Grade 1 winner Tweet (Midshipman) and Listed-scoring pair Statue (Red Ransom) and Indian Ink (Gold Market).
Hazelwood Bloodstock offered Just Beautiful’s Frankel (Galileo) half-sister at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale earlier in the week and she was purchased by US agent Mike Ryan for 180,000gns.
Pride Of Dubai - who shuttled to Coolmore’s Irish base for three seasons - has sired four stakes winners in the northern hemisphere; headed by Group 3 winner Star Of Emaraaty, while his total stakes tally stands at and he is standing at their Jerrys Plains base at a fee of $38,500 (inc GST).
