Woodside Park Stud-based shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit) sired his second stakes winner as Jouska (3 f ex Quiet Protest by Kingmambo) posted a brave performance to win the Boadicea Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Henry Candy-trained three-year-old was last seen finishing eighth in the Sceptre Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) and she bounced back to winning ways to beat Sunday Star (Kodiac) by half a length, while Jovial (Dubawi) was a further length back in third.

Purchased by Creighton Schwartz Bloodstock for 31,000gns at the 2017 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, the filly is one of five winners and first stakes winner out of winning mare Quiet Protest (Kingmambo).

Quiet Protest herself is a half-sister to Listed scorer Silk Forest (Kodiac).

The filly’s third dam is Listed winner Free At Last (Shirley Heights), who produced Listed scorer Mikado (Sadler’s Wells) and Grade 2 scorer Coretta (Caerleon), who in turn produced Listed winner Shared Dreams (Seeking The Gold) - the dam of Listed scorer Brother O’Connell (Giant’s Causeway).

Jouska joins Liberty Beach as the stallion’s other stakes winners and he is currently covering his fourth book of mares at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria at a fee of $9,900 (inc GST).
