Six-year-old mare becomes Mastercraftsman's 74th stakes winner
Former Windsor Park shuttler Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) was handed his 74th stakes winner on Sunday when the hardy dual purpose mare Barrington Court (6 m ex Arabian Hideway by Desert Prince) broke through at stakes level for the first time when taking out the Bluebell Stakes (Listed, 1m4f) at Naas.
Last seen running second behind Dawn Patrol (Galileo) in the Loughbrown Stakes (Gr 3, 2m) on September 27, the Jessica Harrington-trained mare went one better on Sunday when posting a length and a half victory over Snapraeceps (Canford Cliffs), while Yaxeni (Maxios) was another four and a half lengths away in third.
The JP McManus-raced mare was purchased by Ballybin Stud for €32,000 at the 2014 Goffs Ireland November Foal Sale and she is out of the unraced Desert Prince (Green Desert) mare Arabian Hideway, who is herself a sister Group 3 winner Foss Way, while she also counts multiple Singapore stakes winner Chevron (Medicean) among her half-siblings.
Further back the mare hails from the same family as Group 2 winner Gold Way (Goldneyev) and Group 3 scorer Danzigaway (Danehill) - the dam of dual Grade 2 winner Silent Name (Sunday Silence) and Listed winner and now sire Galiway (Galileo).
Mastercraftsman shuttled to Windsor Park in New Zealand for four seasons and stood at Coolmore's Irish base for a fee of €25,000 in 2020.
