Star Jewel makes winning debut at Kempton

The Simon and Ed Crisford Star Jewel (2 f ex Dubai Affair by Dubawi) made a winning debut at Kempton on Friday and in doing so provided Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) with his 21st winner in his first northern hemisphere-bred crop. 

Star Jewel took the lead with 200 metres left to run in the EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes (7f) and went away to score a two length victory over the Hugo Palmer-trained Liberated Lady (Iffraaj) with Godolphin’s Romantic Song (Shamardal), who started favourite, in third. 

Bred by Bearstone Stud, Star Jewel was bought for 38,000gns by Gay Kelleway Racing at last year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 3 from the draft of her breeder. She is out of the winning Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) mare Dubai Affair who is a half-sister to the stakes winning Queen’s Grace (Bahamian Bounty) being out of Listed winner Palace Affair (Pursuit Of Love) who is a half-sister to July Cup (Gr 1, 6f) winner and former shuttler Sakhee’s Secret (Sakhee). 

Territories’ first northern hemisphere crop include the stakes winners Rougir and Fulgentia as well as stakes performers Terrible Land, Linosa, Teresa Mendoza, William Bligh and Gartoria.
