78 for Iffraaj
Former Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic) was handed his 78th stakes winner on Sunday when his son Only The Brave (4 c ex Crystals Sky by Hernando) took out the Preis von Dahlwitz (Listed, 2000m) at Hoppegarten. The four-year-old was last seen finishing third in the Grand Prix Aufgalopp (Listed, 2100m) at Cologne and on Sunday he defeated Bristano (Dansili) into second, while Kiss The Wind (Casamento) came home in third. Iffraaj (Zafonic) shuttled to Haunui Farm in New Zealand for 12 years and he was replaced at the New Zealand nursery by his son Ribchester, while it was announced last month that another of his sons - Wootton Bassett - would shuttle to Coolmore Stud in the Hunter Valley for the 2021 breeding season and will command a fee of $71,500 (inc GST) in his first year.

33 for Rip Van Winkle
Late former Windsor Park Stud shuttler Rip Van Winkle (Galileo) sired his 33rd stakes winner on Sunday when the Andreas Suborics-trained Rip Van Lips (5 h ex Red Lips by Areion) took out the Oleander-Rennen (Gr 2, 3200m) at Hoppegarten. The five-year-old entire defeated Memphis (Jukebox Jury), while Brokeback Mountain (Le Havre) was another half a length back in third. Rip Van Winkle’s progeny is headed by three Group 1 winners, including Australasian winners Te Akau Shark and Jennifer Eccles, while his other Group 1 winner is Dick Whittington. Rip Van Winkle died last year.

41 for Zoffany
A week after Zoffany (Dansili) sired his fourth Group 1 winner when Mother Earth landed the 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m), the stallion was provided with his 41st stakes winner when the Ger Lyons-trained Maker Of Kings (4 g ex Desire Moi by Galileo) landed the Amethyst Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) at Leopardstown on Sunday. The four-year-old gelding came into the contest having finished second on his three previous occasions and he beat Erzindjan (Lope De Vega) by a length and a quarter, while Ace Aussie (Australia) was another neck away in third. The four-year-old gelding is out of once-raced Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) mare Desire Moi, who is herself a sister to multiple Group 1 winner Lush Lashes. The gelding becomes the fourth winner bred on the Zoffany / Galileo cross, joining Group 3 winner Zofelle and Listed-winning duo Pytagorous and Lyzbeth. Zoffany died at Coolmore Stud earlier this year.
