Former Coolmore Stud shuttler Caravaggio’s (Scat Daddy) solid start to his stallion career picked up more pace on Tuesday when the son of Scat Daddy (Johannesburg) chalked up his fourth winner with the Stéphane Wattel-trained Dizzy Bizu (2 f ex Izzy Bizu by Kodiac) making a winning debut over 1000 metres at Chantilly.

The two-year-old filly battled on well to repel the late advances of Hopeful Melody (Havana Gold), eventually beating her by a head, while Fugace (Siyouni) was a further three lengths away in third.

The filly is out of Listed winning Kodiac (Danehill) mare Izzy Bizu, who is herself a half-sister to Group 2 winner Donnerschlag (Bahamian Bounty).

Further back this is the same family as Group 2 winner Prince Of Lir (Kodiac) and Listed scorer Nitro Boost (Dandy Man).

Meanwhile under the filly’s fourth dam is New Zealand Listed winner Chartreuse (St Petersburg) and she in turn produced 2014 New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Platinum Witness (California Dane). Chartreuse is also a half-sister to dual New Zealand Group 3 winner Zennista (Zenno Rob Roy), who was also placed at Group 1 level.

Caravaggio shuttled to Coolmore Australia for one season in 2018, where he covered 143 mares and Dizzy Bizu joins Contarelli Chapel, Tenebrism and Elliptic as the stallion’s other winners. He now sits in third place in the leading first season sires table in Europe with that table headed by Cotai Glory (Exceed And Excel) and Ardad (Kodiac) who have both sired five first crop winners to date.
