Inglis Premier graduate scores at Grade 2 level at Turffontein.
Having broken his maiden on debut on June 6, the Mike de Kock-trained Mount Pleasant (2 c ex Life In A Metro by Fastnet Rock) had no issues with the step into stakes company on Saturday, justifying favouritism in the S A Nursery (Gr 2, 1200m) at Turffontein, and in the process handed Coolmore Stud-based first season sire Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro) with his first stakes winner.
The two-year-old colt finished off strongly to beat fellow Australian-bred Najem Suhail (Starspangledbanner) by a length with Nourbese (Futura) a further three quarters of a length away in third.
Bred by Makybe Racing & Breeding and purchased by Form Bloodstock for $90,000 from the draft of Two Bays Farm at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the well-bred colt is out of winning Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mare Life In A Metro, whose four foals to race have all been winners.
Life In A Metro herself is a half-sister to Group 1-winning duo Abbey Marie (Redoute's Choice) and Absolutely (Redoute's Choice) and Group 3 winner Runaway (Manhattan Rain).
Further back this is the family of Grade 1 winner Kinshasa No Kiseki (Fuji Kiseki), Group 1 winner Nettoyer (Sebring) and Group 3 winner She's Clean (Redoute's Choice).
Life In A Metro's Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) yearling was purchased by Kelly Schweida for $170,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year and in 2019 she produced a colt by late Widden Stud-based sire Sebing (More Than Ready).
Vancouver has sired nine winners overall and his first-crop also contains four stakes performers. The son of Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado) will stand the 2020 season at Coolmore Stud $30,250 (inc GST), having stood the 2019 term for $44,000 (inc GST).
