Important Mission produces shock in Garhoud Sprint
Former Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo) chalked up his 206th stakes winner on Thursday as Important Mission (6 g ex Laura's Pleasure by Cactus Ridge) landed the Garhoud Sprint (Listed, 1200m) at Meydan.
The six-year-old gelding was having his 17th career start and first in stakes company and he flew home from last to first to beat Behavioural Bias (Shackleford) by a length and three-quarters, while pre-race favourite Bochart (Dubawi) was another two and a quarter lengths away in third.
Purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for US$175,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the gelding is out of the dual winning Cactus Ridge (Hennessy) mare Laura's Pleasure, who is herself a daughter of stakes-placed mare Doubleyourpleasure (Double Negative).
Doubleyourpleasure is also the dam of Grade 2 scorer Withgreatpleasure (Hold That Tiger) and Listed winner Sea Of Pleasure (Sea Of Secrets).
More Than Ready’s progeny is headed by 25 elite level winners and he shuttled to Australia for 19 seasons, but did not return in 2020 and he now resides at WinStar Farm where his fee for 2021 has been set at US$65,000, having stood the 2020 for US$80,000.
