A filly by Cambridge Stud shuttler Almanzor (Wootton Bassett) topped the New Zealand Bloodstock South Island Sale which was held via the Gavelhouse.com Plus platform after he was purchased by PCB for NZ$85,000.

Catalogued as Lot 63 and offered by Brighthill Farm the filly is out of winning In The Wings (Sadler’s Wells) mare Next, making her a half-sister to stakes-placed Montre Moi (Showcasing).

The filly’s second dam is Listed winner First (Highest Honor) - the dam of Group 2 scorer Au Revoir (Singspiel) and Listed-winning trio Perfect Stride (Oasis Dream), Law Lord (Diktat) and Qazyna (Frankel).

The first southern hemisphere crop of Almanzor have been well received by buyers in Australia and New Zealand this season with 57 of his yearlings selling for an aggregate of $11,443,549 at an average of $200,764.

The second top lot of the sale was a colt by Preferment (Zabeel), who was purchased by Sauce for NZ$55,000.

Catalogued as Lot 2 and also offered as part of the Brighthill Farm draft, the colt is out of stakes-placed Nashwan (Blushing Groom) mare Play Me.

Play Me herself is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Soviet Flash (Warning).

Further back this is the same family as the Group 2 winning-trio Jupiter Island (St Paddy), Precocious (Mummy’s Pet) and Pushy (Sharpen Up).
