Last season's first-season sire sensation Mehmas (Acclamation) was handed his sixth stakes winner on Sunday as the Philip D'Amato-trained Going Global (3 f ex Wrood by Invasor) landed the Sweet Life Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Santa Anita.

Having her first start in America, having been formerly trained in Ireland by Mick Halford for whom she won one start, the three-year-old filly stayed on well to beat Five Pics Please (Cinco Charlie) by half a length. Nimbostratus (Wootton Bassett) was another three-quarters of a length away in third.

Going Global was purchased by her previous owners Pioneer Racing for €15,500 at the 2019 Goffs Ireland Sportsman's Yearling Sale and she is out of dual winner Wrood (Invasor), making her a half-sister to one-time winner Finans Bay (Kodiac).

Wrood herself is a half-sister to Group 3 scorer Racer Forever (Rahy) and the dam of stakes winner Gallic Star (Galileo).

Further back, this is the same family as Group 1 winner Tiggy Wiggy (Kodiac) and Group 3 winner Masta Plasta (Mujadil).

Crowned Britain's champion first-season last season, the Tally-Ho Stud-based Mehmas has sired 59 winners overall headed by Group 1 scorer Supremacy.

The stallion is covering his fifth book of mares for a career high fee of €25,000.
