MACAU: Another Win For Unbeaten Sacred Hustler

Glamour galloper Sacred Hustler maintained his unbeaten record with another big win at Sunday’s Annual Charity race day at Taipa.

Ridden by regular jockey Peter Ho, Sacred Hustler took control of the race soon after the start and travelled sweetly in the run before bounding away to win easily from Boy From The Bay (Frankie Choi), with Merry Way (Boo Minho) running on well for third.

It was the first run on the turf for the four year old son of Hussonet who had coasted home in three easy wins on the all weather surface prior.

Prepared by Joe Lau, Sacred Hustler has looked class act since he first arrived in the enclave with an impressive second in his first trial in Macau when never off the bridle.

Like his sire Sacred Hustler is an eye catching chestnut gelding who was only beaten a head in a Cambridge trial by the boom New Zealander Mosse, who has won five of his six starts to date.

Sunday’s victory dispelled any doubts about his ability to handle the turf with Sacred Hustler clocking a respectable 1.09.3 for the 1200m on a track rated as good.

The gelding has always finished his races off strongly and looks as though he will be a force to be reckoned with in the four year classic races such as the Guineas.

His sire Hussonet was placed at 1700 metres, whilst his dam the unraced Hula Here is a daughter of champion sire Dehere who won himself at 1700 metres.

Dehere has thrown a Derby winner in the US in Graeme Hall, as well as the gun Australian galloper Defier who was a winner of 10 races including the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m and was a close second to Fields Of Omagh in the 2003 G1 Cox Plate

With stamina like that on both sides of his family one would expect Sacred Hustler to be competitive up to 1600 metres.

Sunday also saw another highly promising youngster in Master Chow from the Patrick Lee stable make it two wins from as many starts with a sparkling all the way win in the Class 3 & 4 over 1050 metres on the sand.

Ridden by Louis Corrales Master Chow burst away from the gates to lead throughout and despite displaying greenness over the final stages was a mile too good for Luen Yat Fast Net (Frankie Choi), with Turquoise Fast (Roger Yu) in third.

A nice looking son of the US speedster Rusty Spur, Master Chow clocked a slick 1.02.4 for the trip and looks to have loads of improvement in him.

Riding honors for the day were shared by Charles Perkins and Peter Ho with a double each.

Perkins won the first of the day on the former Australian horse Power Purdy who finally broke through after a couple of recent luckless efforts to bolt away with a Class 4 & 5 over 1200m on the turf.

Power Ballad made it a double for the talented French apprentice when he hit the line too well for his rivals in the Class 3 & 4 over 1050m later in the day on the sand.

Both Perkin’s winners were prepared by his master K H Leong.

Peter Ho’s day was rounded out with a win in the last on Wonder Mossman to give him a double after earlier winning on Sacred Hustler.

Wonder Mossman made light of a rise in grade from Class 3 up to 1 & 2 with a strong win over the hot favorite Oakcrest Drive (Louis Corrales) in the 1350m contest.

A four year old Australian import Wonder Mossman won a three year old maiden at Warwick Farm under the name of Racing Eight when prepared by David Payne.
