MACAU: Sino Brilhante Set For Dubai Carnival

Macau’s latest sand sensation Sino Brilhante is on track for a shot at the world’s best sand sprinters with trainer Gary Moore announcing that the one eyed galloper will be set for the Dubai International Carnival next year.

Moore, who is currently in Japan for the Hokkaido Yearling and Weanling Sales, announced his plans after the three year destroyed his rivals in the Group 2 Summer Trophy over 1050 metres on Saturday.

“What a hell of a job he’s done. He’s won eight from nine this season and he deserves a chance at the best.”

“That was his toughest test to date and he handled it with ease.” Moore said.

“I bypassed the second leg of the Lisboa Series so he could prove himself against the best here.”

After a tardy beginning which is customary for Sino Brilhante, the gelding was quick to stride forward under regular jockey Stanley Chin and sit outside pace maker Luck San.

Given full throttle at the two hundred the son of Good Journey powered away from Luck San (Benny Woodworth), with the long priced Spring (Peter Ho) running a career best to get into third.

Disappointment of the race was early favorite Luck Of Smiling (Andrew Calder)who after an ordinary getaway batted in the straight and would up in fifth spot beaten four and three quarter lengths.

Sino Brilhante has now won 10 of his 13 starts with two second placed efforts, all on the sand surface but Moore is equally confident that the gelding will be just as lethal on the turf.

“On pedigree he is bred to run on the turf but with 10 from 13 on the sand there is no need to change the recipe in the short term.”

“He won’t run again this season, he will race again in December and leave for Dubai at Christmas time.”

It won’t be Gary Moore’s first venture to the Dubai Carnival.

Happy Pearl gave Moore a winner at the 2006 Carnival at his only trip to Dubai with the champion trainer rating Sino Brilhante head and shoulders above him.

“He is the best I’ve trained in Macau by far and I feel the best is yet to come with him.”

“He’s been outstanding from day one as a two year old and just keeps getting better.”

Moore is set to pick up his seventh Macau Trainer’s Championship at the end of this season with a massive 20 win lead on 54 over Geoff Allendorf who is on 34 victories, with Patrick Lee in third spot on 32.

• IT’S been a wonderful season for Australian trainer Geoff Allendorf and the stable added another cup race to the tally with the promising King Creole winning the Singapore Turf Club Goodwill Cup on Saturday.

Given a lovely ride by Peter Ho, King Creole made it win number five with a sound victory over the fast finishing Crown Indicator (Charles Perkins), with race favorite Hostwin Challenge (Stanley Chin) in third.

“That was a good win, he’s done a good job winning three from six since he came to us.” Allendorf said.

“I’m really happy to win another cup race for my owner Mr. Lam King Poy who has been a terrific help to me, and a pleasure to train for.”

“He ran a great race in the Derby on an unsuitable track and is a horse that is still maturing.”

“I’m going to spell him now and he will come back stronger and that’s when the owner will get his real rewards.”

The win was also a comeback victory for Peter Ho who only recently returned to the saddle after being sidelined with injury.

Local jockey Horace lam was another rider back in the winner’s circle after a long spell on the sidelines through a suspension.

Lam got the best out of the free running Wonder Alloy for trainer K C Chong to hold off a brave effort by Tony Itoldyouso (Andrew Calder) to win the Class 3 over 1350 metres.

Both Lam and Ho are former Hong Kong boys that are in the top bracket of our local riders.
