French jockey Stephane Ladjadj, one the latest additions to Macau’s riding ranks, has wasted no time in establishing himself by kicking home another winner on the Stephen Chow prepared One More Again at Taipa last Friday night.
Ladjadj produced a lovely front running ride on One More Again, to lead throughout and stave off Chappo who was ridding by another newcomer from France in J B Hamel, with Éclair Lightning (Oscar Chavez) running in third.
One More Again, a son of Gallant Guru, has recorded six wins and nine placings from his 40 race starts.
Five of his victories have been over the 1500 metres course on the turf with the gelding nudging the $1.5 million mark in stakes.
One More Again is raced by longtime Macau racing identity Tam Vai Lam who also races the second place getter Chappo.
Tam also provided Ladjadj with his first Macau winner Moral Integrity the week prior when he led throughout to win a Class 5 & 6 over 1200 metres.
Ladjadj has over 700 winners to his credit and has travelled the world since he completed his apprenticeship in 1996.
Now aged 40, he was based primarily in Qatar for more than a decade but has ridden successfully in Germany, India, Switzerland and Bahrain.
Oscar Chavez took riding honors for the night with a winning double with success on Joe Lau’s Grand Warrior and Patrick Lee’s Mission Gdragon.
Grand Warrior finally put things together to show a glimpse of his wet track form from New Zealand to storm home wide out in the first of the night the Maiden Handicap over 1200 metres.
The son of Darci Brahma relished the heavy conditions to beat the newcomer Wittymaster (Cliffy Lai) with Rivalry (Wayne Smith) in third.
The 1.18.3 recorded for the 1200 metres underlined the heavy state of the track after Macau was deluged with rainstorms throughout the week.
Mission Gdragon gave Chavez his double when the wet track specialist went home too well for his opposition to record win number eight in the enclave, and push his earnings close to $HK3 million.
Mission Gdragon was the very first winner from the original MJC Online Sale that was held back in 2014.
The Magic Millions graduate is still racing with plenty of zest as a rising seven year old. The son of Jet Spur has been a prolific place getter with 18 minor placings on his resume as well.
