Race 3
#3 BEAU GOSSE put together two satisfactory performance over this course and distance in February before being stepped up to a mile.He then went to the all weather track and probably should have won but was held up at a vital stage in the stretch. He's now drawn perfectly in barrier 4, has Hugh Bowman jumping aboard for the first time and returns to 1200m at the valley. It appears a perfect and well devised plan by trainer Douglas Whyte and I'd be surprised if he isn't in the finish.
#7 SWEET DIAMOND ran a good race to just go under behind HAPPY HORSE three start back and is worthy of strong consideration after two hearty efforts since from horror draws.
He's a winner in class 4 and the rise to 1200m won't be any issue with new rider Harry Bentley stepping in.
He's tactically versatile and an extremely consistent animal so with a barrier finally on his side, in gate 5, he should go close to getting the job done.
#4 MR GOOD VIBES has only recently dropped into the lowest grade of class 5 and indicated last start that he can certainly win a race in this class. He'll be given another opportunity here after drawing the inside gate and with Karis Teetan behind the wheel should be making his presence felt. He'll also be feeling more comfortable with the blinkers that went on four starts ago now, so further improvement on the clock is anticipated.
#2 TACTICAL COMMAND was well punted to win three runs back when he dropped into class 5 and drew the inside gate.Conditions are quite similar tonight as he returns to the lowest grade and with Zac Purton now jumping aboard, for the first time, you'll be guaranteed a good ride. His effort his past couple has certainly measured up to the challenge of class 4 but wide barriers and awkward beginnings made it difficult for him to win.
#9 VIVA A LA is enjoying a consistent and prosperous season for connections and reads as the only runner to have won his last start. He won with plenty in hand over this course and trip after settling just off speed, then crunched the leaders over the concluding stages to score. He'll need to raise the bar a notch as he now shoulders an extra 5lbs but it mightn't be enough to slow him down.

Race 9
#3 NOBLE PURSUIT is furnishing into a handy galloper and there's definitely more wins to come.Ironically, he's started favourite on two seperate occasions in his short career and was unfortunately beaten at both.He won a race over this course and trip in February with pure class and in the process defeated a subsequent winner.Jumping back up to the 1800m looks ideal here following a hard finishing fourth over the 1650m last start.
#9 FLAMING TRILLION is the runner down in the weights who catches the eye and should be included in all calculations. He's only having his second start at Happy Valley but I don't see that as a deterrent. He raced against some highly quality animals during the initial stages of this campaign and held his own in the process. He likes to race handy, so the draw may end up being somewhat tricky, but he's fit and rated a genuine contender.
#1 GALLANT WAKING reunites with his good friend Vincent Ho and the pair have notched up four wins and multiple minor placings in the past. He's untried over the 1800m however always finishes hard, so the slight rise in distance doesn't appear a task. What does potential make him vulnerable is a career high rating and the full impost of a 135lbs, but on the flip side, a senior rider back a board might enable him to find a fraction more class.
#4 EIGHTEEN PALMS has completed all his money making at Happy Valley and connections are quite content to continue his racing at this circuit. He's drawn to enjoy the perfect run in transit and with a familiar jockey aboard, in Alexis Badel, shouldn't be doing any additional work.Nevertheless, what he does need to improve on is his final dash to the line because his closing sectionals are a slightly inferior to most.
#2 BERLIN TANGO has been trickling down the ratings for most of the season and has now reached a competitive mark. The 7yo has only won twice in his Hong Kong career but ran a blinder in defeat on the all weather track last start. The draw looks awkward on paper, but it shouldn't matter as he generally settles back, therefore he can still be seen hitting the line hard.
