Hong Kong-trained Glorious Days will break from gate six in Sunday’s G1 Yasuda Kinen at Tokyo racecourse where he will be the lone overseas raider in a field of 17 headed by Dubai Duty Free winner Just A Way.

“Six is a good draw and I'm happy with it,” said trainer John Size after the draw.

Glorious Days is making his third attempt to win the Yasuda Kinen.

He drew the same gate last year in the Yasuda Kinen when a disappointing five lengths 11th and broke from 14 when a sub-par 14th on his first Yasuda Kinen attempt in 2012.

Just A Way, the sensational wide-margin winner of the G1 Dubai Duty Free (1800m) at Meydan in March, will jump from gate 10.

Last season’s G1 Mile Championship victor, Tosen Ra, has drawn wider in 16, while last year’s Yasuda Kinen second and third, Shonan Mighty and Danon Shark, will break from gates 11 and nine respectively.

Recent NHK Mile Cup winner, the three-year-old Mikki Isle, is posted in gate eight.

Glorious Days is pleasing Size in the build-up to this year’s race.

The G1 Hong Kong Mile hero warmed up in the trotting ring on Friday before heading out onto the dirt track, turned sloppy by prevailing rain, to canter a couple of circuits under his work rider.

“The horse seems normal and within himself, and there was nothing out of the ordinary in his movements this morning,” reported Size.

“The sloppy going didn't bother him at all – he concentrated on his work with his head down and watched his footing.

"He'll just do the same slow work tomorrow and on Sunday as he did today.”

Commenting on the wet conditions, Size added: “He's never raced on soft turf but with the time they run for this race, it might even suit him if they run a bit slower.”
