The World All-Star Jockeys (WASJ) is an international event launched by the Japan Racing Association, was won by Christophe Lemaire on 26th August 2018.

Christophe Lemaire showcased a convincing three-length victory in the last leg of the World All-Star Jockeys to dominate this year’s series for the first time in his fifth challenge, bettering his personal best of an overall sixth marked last year. After finishing Day One with 32 points by landing a ninth and a second in the first two legs, respectively, he guided 10th favorite Meiner Bolso to fifth in the 3rd leg before capturing the fourth race with third- favorite Smart Elements, tallying a total of 72 points. “I feel great! Sapporo is a wonderful racecourse and I want to thank the racing fans for their support. I was really lucky to have been able to ride good horses this year.”

Yutaka Take led with 38 points after the first day and showed a good runner-up effort in the third leg. However, he was 11th with eighth-pick Forward Cafe in the last race and completed the series 13 points behind Lemaire in second, missing his second overall win since claiming the World Super Jockeys Series in 1992. “I’m glad I was able to win one race in the series. I was hoping that maybe I could win this year because I was on top after the third leg, so I was a bit disappointed when I saw Lemaire raising his hand in triumph.”

Tied in seventh after Day One, Mirco Demuro advanced to third with 40 points after marking a seventh and a runner-up effort in the last two legs.
