Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 60 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Juvenile fillies in the opener and all twelve are racing for the first time so we must head to the trial videos. The fastest time was set by (8) SAMAEBEONJJEOK. She only finished in 6th of ten, but she broke well, showed on pace, and was given a very easy time of it with her jockey not asking a question. She can lead here and can win (1) GOLDBERG sat midfield in her heat before easing away from her opposition in the straight. She looked assured, stopped the clock in a fair time and has every chance of going well first-up. (9) DREAM TIME is another who can be on pace. She ran on well in her heat and is another to keep safe. (4) PUNGUNJIMA had an injury issue after her July trial in which she impressed. She has been back in work since the start of this month and Moon Se-young aboard catches the eye. (12) WHIZ LOVER went through two trials improving in the second of them and is another possible.

Seoul Race 2: Class 4 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 75 Million

Imported juveniles here with nine of the eleven racing for the first time. We'll side with the experience though and (6) HERO FIGHTER has raced twice, running 4th on debut in July before making all to win in a quick time over 1000M on August 5th, He comes up in trip but should be just a bit more forward in his development than the rest here and will take some beating. The other experienced one is (8) WORLD VARIANCE. He was slowly away on debut over 1000M in July but finished off very well and the step up in trop can suit. Of the first timers, (2) WHIZ RUNNER has been through two trials, improving in the second of them (which may not appear on all race cards because it wasn't a mandatory trial) and stopping the clock in a time faster than any of the other debutants have. If he brings that form to the races, he can go close. (11) THUNDER DREAM won his trial in a quick time and while he has the challenge of the widest gate, warrants respect. (7) JEONGSANG ACE another who hinted at ability in trials.

Selections (6) Hero Fighter (8) World Variance (2) Whiz Runner (11) Thunder Dream

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

(11) BAEDARI KWAEGEOM shapes as the best here. After a ropey start she has shown she is figuring things out with a 4th and a 2nd from her latest two, both at this distance and both times racing on pace. She has the challenge of a wide draw here but should be equal to it. (3) MULLEBANGA has finished 6th in all three of his starts so far but at his latest on August 27th, his first at this distance, he showed on pace and wasn't far away from the placings. He comes into a much better gate today and should be aiming to improve. (8) TAEPYEONG HERO has been 3rd in both his appearances at 1000M and 1200M. In this company, he is another who will be expected to be on or close to the pace and can match or better those 3rds. (5) PURPLE SHINHWA and (10) SUPER ONE among others in the frame.

Selections (11) Baedari Kwaegeom (3) Mullebanga (8) Taepyeong Hero (5) Purple Shinhwa

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(10) BLUE INDY will be a warm favourite. He has just the one win but has finished between 3rd and 5th in no fewer than eleven occasions including his latest six. He has the fastest time of any of these for the distance by a considerable margin and a repeat of his recent showing should be enough to get him across the line on top here. (5) RED TAEPUNG comes up in class having won at this distance on August 26th when on pace throughout. The time wasn't quick, but he comes down in the weights, draws well, and can measure up. (9) EXPECT didn't measure up on his first try at this class over a mile in August. He comes back in trip, Franco climbs on and he can be given another chance today. (11) LUXURY KING and (3) GHANA DREAM the other placing chances.

Selections (10) Blue Indy (5) Red Taepung (9) Expect (11) Luxury King

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(8) DAEHEUNG CLASS remains a maiden but comes in foo a strong of near misses including runner-up finishes in his latest two, both at this class and distance. He settles midfield and runs on and today, he may pass them all. Should he find one too quick yet again, it could be (6) FLYING ZEST. He comes up in class having secured his maiden win at this trip, coming from off the pace, on August 27th. This isn't a strong race for the level, and he will probably be ridden closer and should be very competitive. Furkan Yuksel was in fine form last weekend and in (11) HEALING HAVEN he looks to have if not a winning chance, then certainly a placing one. The filly has the fastest time among these for the distance and is in softer company than recent starts. (1) HWIPARAM and (2) AKKAENGI others in the minor money hunt.

Selections (8) Daeheung Class (6) Flying Zest (11) Healing Haven (1) Hwiparam

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(2) MY CENTER was one of those mown down by Lala K in the Rookie Stakes at the end of August, ultimately finishing in 6th place. He comes into shallower waters here and from a good draw, looks set to lead and he should be in this a long way. (10) NAOL SIDAE comes up in class having scored his maiden win by a big margin at start number three at this distance on August 27th.  The wide draw may be a concern, but the eye-catching manner of that win suggests that there can be more to come. (7) JECHUK IHO remains a maiden but is up in class following back-to-back runner-up finishes in his first two starts, both at 1000M. He did in in contrasting styles too, racing on pace on debut and then coming from behind on his reappearance. The additional furlong can suit. (4) SONGAM SKY was an also-ran in the Rookie Stakes but can be given another chance here. (6) LUCKY BOUNCE another to consider after a solid 2nd last time out.

Selections (2) My Center (10) Naol Sidae (7) Jechuk Iho (4) Songam Sky

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(9) PHOENIX SERVE is a class and distance winner and comes in having bled when 4th on her latest start in August. That got her automatically stood down for a month, but she came through her requalification trial in good order a couple of weeks ago and she be a big danger here. (2) TEUKGEUP DAERO has a 5th and two 4th place finishes in three starts at this class, putting in quick times at this distance and at 1300M. She draws well to be on pace here and should be in it a long way. (1) MENI POCKET is up in class following a very quick win over this distance on July 9th when coming from the back of midfield and storming away late on. She is very lightly weighted and can go close again. (7) TEN BAGGER and (3) LONDON MYEONGGA among other possibles.

Selections (9) Phoenix Serve (2) Teukgeup Daero (1) Meni Pocket (7) Ten Bagger

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) BLACK CHOCOLATE returned from four months out to win at class and distance on August 27th, showing on pace throughout. He comes up a full 3.5kg in the weights but draws nicely and a repeat isn't impossible. (7) HEY CUPID enters seeking a hat-trick of wins having scored at class 5 level over 1300M in June and then at this class over 1400M on August 6th. He is down in trip but likes to be on pace and while he too is up in the weights, he should be close. (4) HWANGGEUMKKOT comes up in class following a win over 1300M on August 26th. She is down in the weights and can be competitive. (1) NAOL YEONGUNG returned from five months out to run a good class and distance 2nd on August 20th. He should strip fitter for the run and looks a place chance again. (8) HANGANG JILJU another with minor money claims.

Selections (3) Black Chocolate (7) Hey Cupid (4) Hwanggeumkkot (1) Naol Yeongung

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(11) FURIOSA enters off back-to-back narrow defeats having led almost the entire way around over 1700M. She actually comes up in class here but that's a challenge that she should be equal to and slightly down in weight and with Moon Se-young getting on, she can go one better this time. (1) CHEONGSAN YEONGUNG doesn't know how to run a bad race and while it has been ten starts since his solitary win, he has been a model of consistency, finishing between 2nd and 5th on each occasion. He beat a couple of these on his way to 3rd place at class and distance on August 5th and under the same light weight and from a good gate, he should be in the mix again. (7) TAP QUALITY is another consistent type. He came from off the pace to run 2nd at class and distance on July 2nd and off a twelve-week layoff, can go well first-up. (4) NAMSAN HORANGI and (10) ROYAL ROAD are others in the frame.

Selections (11) Furiosa (1) Cheongsan Yeongung (7) Tap Quality (4) Namsan Horangi

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Tricky race. We'll take a chance on (5) ARGO TAP, who was a good winner at class 5 level over 1200M two starts back before finishing a front-running 3rd on his first try at this class at a mile on August 6th. He'll be on pace and has every chance. (6) ARA MOA should be up challenging for the lead as well. She enters off a strong 3rd place at this class over 1200M on August 19th and with only six starts to her name, still has plenty of scope for further development. (11) BEST SUN was a class and distance winner last time out. That was a full three months ago, so his fitness will need to be taken on trust, and he does come up in the weights and draws wide. Nevertheless, he has plenty if ability with three wins from seven, and he can't be ruled out. (2) PEERLESS and (10) MONSTER POWER are among plenty of others with at least placing claims.

Selections (5) Argo Tap (6) Ara Moa (11) Best Sun (2) Peerless

Seoul Race 11: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(1) ENDING FIRE has raced just twice, finishing 6th on debut in July but then an improved 3rd over 1200M on August 26th when overcoming gate ten. Under today's handicap conditions, he comes down 3kg in the weights, he comes into a much better gate, and the additional furlong can suit. The main danger is (7) BLOOMING STAR. He comes up in class, and slightly in trip, following an all the way win over 1300M on August 12th. He too is down in the weights and can measure up in this company. (10) HUNTER BLADE mixes his form, but he has won at this distance and has placed at this class, and he can be there or thereabouts today. (8) EOSEOWA and (11) GWANGCHIGI among others in the minor money hunt.

Selections (1) Ending Fire (7) Blooming Star (10) Hunter Blade (8) Eoseowa

Seoul Race 12: Class 2 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(1) LEEWOLMA has finished no worse than 4th in nine outings to date. That pair of 4th places has come in his latest two; his first attempts at class 2, and both were at this distance, but he beat some of today's rivals in the process and under a light weight and from the inside gate, he can win here. (11) LAST PUNCH comes in off back-to-back runner-up finishes at this class over 1400M and 1200M. She likes to settle back and run on so the wide draw shouldn't be a problem, and she has a strong finish on her. (10) RAON THE JET needs a line drawn through his latest when well back behind Last Punch. He has placed at this class and can be given another chance here. (3) COMPLETE TIME and (9) GEUMA ACME other placing possibles.

Selections (1) Leewolma (11) Last Punch (10) Raon The Jet (3) Complete Time
