Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 60 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Juvenile maidens in the opener with four of the ten racing for the first time. We'll side with the only one who has raced twice before, (6) GOLDEN DRAGON. Having run 6th on debut, he was an improved 2nd at start number two over 1200M on August 19th, when settling midfield and running on. He won't need to improve much to win this. (8) CHADOL DIA was a close 2nd when racing on pace on her August debut over 1000M. She should be on the speed again here and strip fitter for the run. Among the first timers, the clear pick is (2) MEGA DRAGON. He first trialled in April but didn't make it to the races, but he looked very good in another hear on September 8th, settling back and then working through the line well in a good time. The 1200M should suit first-up and a bold showing is likely. (1) VICAR NAREUMA hinted at ability in his trial and along with (3) EUNPA PARTNER, rates as a place chance.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 60 Million

More juvenile maidens and (1) USEUNG CONCORD will be a warm favourite here. After a positive trial, he ran 3rd on debut on August 26th, having raced handy throughout. He should strip fitter for that, and the additional furlong can suit. (2) SEIRENE has raced twice, improving to 2nd in the latest of them on August 20th when settling back and running on. The time wasn't quick, but she should have benefitted from the 1200M experience, and she shapes as the main danger. (11) BLOOD MOUNTAIN and (4) THUNDER YEOGEOL both ran 6th on their respective debuts, the former behind Useung Concord. Both can get closer today. There are three debut makers among whom (9) STAR TREK looks best placed to make an immediate impact.

Selections (1) Useung Concord (2) Seirene (11) Blood Mountain (4) Thunder Yeogeol

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

August's Rookie Stakes was too much too soon for (6) CHEONHAENGCHAT, but he returns to shallower waters today with solid claims. That's based on his runner-up finish two starts back over this distance when close to the pace throughout and a similar performance in this company can see him home on top. (2) SEOUL DOLPUNG looks the main danger. After an indifferent debut, he has run 3rd and 4th in two subsequent appearances at this distance and at 1000M both times settling back and running on. He can continue to make progress here. Solitary debut-maker (8) GROUPER looked well in a trial back in June. It's three months later but in this modest company he has to be given a chance first-up. (9) YONGBICHEON beat a couple of these on her way to 3rd place at this distance on August 26th and can go close again. (12) MENI WIN another in the hunt.

Selections (6) Cheonhaengchat (2) Seoul Dolpung (8) Grouper (9) Yongbicheon

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (8) WORLD FIRST CAT ran 3rd on debut over 1000M in July and then 2nd on her first try at this distance on August 20th when settling midfield and running on and only going down by a narrow margin. She should be on or close to the pace today and she can exit class 3 with a win. (9) GANGSEO BULPAE was sent off as favourite on debut having won a trial and while she was beaten into 2nd place, she ran well, leading for much of the way around. She should have derived benefit from that experience and is the main danger here. Those two in either order will fill out most quinellas. (7) TOMYRIS put in an improved performance over 1400M last time out and looks the best of the rest, while (3) THE BIG SHOT and (4) SANGIM STAR are other potential improvers.

Selections (8) World First Cat (9) Gangseo Bulpae (7) Tomyris (3) The Big Shot

Seoul Race 4: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

(7) GEOMUI JEONSEOL enters off a solid 3rd place at this distance on August 27th when ridden handy throughout. In the process he recorded the quickest time any of these have managed for the distance and in this modest company, he can make his breakthrough. (10) HAPPY PLAY beat a couple of these, including Geomui Jeonseol, on her way to 3rd place over this distance last time out. That was all the way back in June so she comes in following a thirteen-week layoff, but she can be a danger. (8) POWER ETCHED registered his best finish to date when 2nd at 1400M on September 2nd and a repeat of that performance would put him very much in the mix today. (3) SWITCH SONG and (6) QUEEN TOP the best of a limited rest.

Selections (7) Geomui Jeonseol (10) Happy Play (8) Power Etched (3) Switch Song

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1600M) Special Weight A / KRW 25 Million

(2) THE BEST EVER comes in after a 2nd and a 3rd in his latest two, both at 1400M. He comes up to the mile for the first time, he draws well, and he can come out on top today. (11) GRAY BOSS ran 4th to The Best Ever's 3rd when they raced each other at 1400M on August 27th coming out of the same wide gate that he draws today. He settled right back but showed a nice turn of foot at the end – he has by far the fastest final furlong average time of all of these – and the additional furlong here could well be in his favour. (1) COLONEL FLYING enters in consistent form with a 2nd and a 3rd from his latest two. He is another with a strong finish who should be challenging late. (4) SHINE MONSTER and (9) I'M KING IJI among others with at least placing chances.

Selections (2) The Best Ever (11) Gray Boss (1) Colonel Flying (4) Shine Monster

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Fillies and mares only here and (6) EUNBIT DOLPUNG will be a warm favourite. She is yet to win in six attempts, but she has finished no worse than 4th and comes in having run a close 2nd at this class and distance on August 26th when racing close to the pace. She does come up2kg in the weights, but she should be on the speed and is the one to beat. (4) MADE STAR comes up in class having scored her maiden win at start number seven on August 19th when racing more forward than usual. Antonio stays abord and she can measure up in this company. (2) AREUMDAUN SAI was 4th behind Eunbit Dolpung on August 26th. She can get a bit far back in her races, but she has a smart finish on her and can be a danger late. (3) DORIPO and (1) ARCH MEMORY among others in the hunt.

Selections (6) Eunbit Dolpung (4) Made Star (2) Areumdaun Sai (3) Doripo
Next Best 1, 7

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Tricky race. We'll take a chance on (1) SINHAE MANGCHI. He got his maiden win over 1300M back in April when he made all, but he hasn't raced since. He looked well when winning a trial at the start of this month and while he will need to be taken on trust fitness-wise, he has a chance at what should be an each-way price. (6) BORIS MARINE comes up in class following back-to-back runner-up finishes over 1200M. He comes down in the weights and the additional furlong can suit. (11) FIRST PARK has won just the once in twenty-eight starts but enters in consistent form with a 2nd and a 3rd from her latest two, both at this class and distance. She can settle back and pass plenty late on here. (5) DALEHOLRINGWANGDAE and (9) POWER PLANE among plenty of others with placing chances.

Selections (1) Sinhae Mangchi (6) Boris Marine (11) First Park (5) Daleholringwangdae

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

A pretty ordinary race for the level and (2) SMART BYEOL has as much chance as any. She comes in off a decent 4th place in a fair time at class and distance on August 27th when settling back and running on.  She won't need to run much better to win this. (11) CHALLANHAN POKPUNG has never finished inside the top two but has four 3rd places to his name, most recently at this class over 1200M on August 12th. He does come up 2kg in the weights and is done no favours by the draw, but he should be competitive in this company. (7) CUPID VOW was 5th behind Challanhan Pokpung in that August 12th race when slowly away but reeling in a few. He was 3rd at this class over 1200M two starts back and can be considered here. (1) LEMON BLADE and (5) LONDON ACE others to consider.

Selections (2) Smart Byeol (11) Challanhan Pokpung (7) Cupid Vow (1) Lemon Blade
Next Best 5, 3

Busan Race 4: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

It's hard to go past (7) DOCTOR PANGPANG here. He ran out a strong winner at class and distance on August 27th when sitting just behind the speed and finishing well in a decent time. He comes up 3kg in the weights but will be favoured to score again. (4) WORLD CLASS CAT will be second-favourite. She has eight top-three finishes form ten starts and enters off her maiden win over 1400M at this class on August 13th. She remains under a light weight, and she should at the very least be placing again. (2) ROAD TO QUEEN comes up in class following victory over this distance on August 20th. She comes down in the weights, draws well, and can measure up (5) HWANGWU JANGSA similarly is up in class after a win at 1400M. She has only raced five times and looks to have plenty of scope for more progress. (11) ROCKET SORI has got his act together in his latest three and can be close again.

Selections (7) Doctor Pangpang (4) World Class Cat (2) Road To Queen (5) Hwangwu Jangsa

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) BEAT RUNNER looks to be the one to beat. She enters off a 2nd and a 3rd from her latest two both at this class over 1400M. She likes to settle back and run on and so long as she doesn't leave herself too much to do, she can return to the winner's circle. (1) WONDERFUL JOY comes in with recent form reading well, especially his last start 2nd over 1200M when coming from off the pace on September 3rd. That brings him up in class, but he comes down significantly in the weights and he even has the fastest time among these for the mile. (7) MISS WIN STAR beat a couple of today's rivals on her way to 3rd place at class and distance on August 20th. She comes up 2kg in the weights, but should be on pace, and can be in this a long way. (10) THE FAVORITE and (6) CRAZY LOVE others to keep safe.

Selections (3) Beat Runner (1) Wonderful Joy (7) Miss Win Star (10) The Favorite
Next Best 6, 4

Busan Race 5: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(5) DEMON SPY was a winner over this distance at class 4 level two starts back before running 2nd on his first try at this class, again over the 1800M, on August 25th when he settled midfield and ran on, beating plenty of today's rivals in the proves. He only comes up 1.5kg in the weights, he draws well, and he can win here. (7) HWANGU FIGHTER has never been outside of the top-four in twelve starts. He beat a couple of these on his way to 4th at class and distance on August 18th and looks very nicely in here again.  (1) K GOLD BAR won three in a row between March and May before dumping his jockey at the start of scheduled start in June. He came back into form with 3rd place in that August 25th race and under the same light weight, can get closer today. (2) STAR MATTA was sent off as favourite in that race but had a poor day at the office. His previous form was good though and he merits another chance. (9) TOP MATE another to consider for the minors.

Selections (5) Demon Spy (7) Hwangu Fighter (1) K Gold Bar (2) Star Matta

Seoul Race 8: Class Open (1400M) Special Weight A / Jeju Governor's Cup (KOR G3) / KRW 500 Million

The Queens' Tour Fall/Winter kicks off and Triple Tiara winner (12) JEULGEOUNYEOJEONG is the one to beat. She got better and better as the series went on, narrowly winning the Luna Stakes before more emphatic triumphs in the Korean Oaks and Gyeonggi Governor's Cup. She confirmed her ability with an easy win over this distance at class 1 level against older male horses at the end of August. She looks the natural heir to (6) RAON FIRST, the top-rated filly or mare in the country. She may not have won since her spectacular success over the boys in last November's G1 President's Cup, but she has been consistent since. She is ultra versatile and capable at any distance and that gives her the edge over stablemate (9) RAON THE SPURT, who won the Ttukseom Cup in May but just lacks a little consistency. It would be a surprise were those three not the first three home but don't rule out good performances from (15) YELLOW CAT and (14) RANUT.

Selections (12) Jeulgeounyeojeong (6) Raon First (9) Raon The Spurt (15) Yellow Cat

Busan Race 6: Class 1 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

Small but competitive finale with plusses and significant minuses for every horse in the race. We'll take a chance on (2) HIT YEGAM. He comes into very similar circumstances to when he won at class and distance in May being back down in trip to 1200M, down in the weights, and drawn very nicely. If he can get a good start and into the lead, they may not get to him. (8) KING OF THE MATCH should also welcome the opportunity to sprint. He hasn't raced in Korea since last year's Grand Prix, and he struggled in Dubai. He has had plenty of time off and looked very well in a trial two weeks ago. With Seo Seung-un aboard, he will have plenty of backers first-up. (5) DAEMANGUI GIL ran 2nd to Hit Yegam in that May race and has since scored two 5th places at 1400M. He will be finishing strongly again, and an apprentice takes the edge off his weight. (7) MIRACLE DREAMING has beaten plenty of these in his latest two, both at 1400M and warrants respect. (1) ONNURI JILJU another in the frame.

Selections (2) Hit Yegam (8) King Of The Match (5) Daemangui Gil (7) Miracle Dreaming

Seoul Race 9: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(9) THUNDER PRINCE enters off back-to-back 3rd places at a mile and 1700M, both at this class. He has won at this distance at class 6 level and the widest gate shouldn't be a problem as he likes to settle back and run on. He is the one to beat. (1) WONDERFUL FOX got his maiden win at the eighth time of asking on September 2nd, coming from off the pace over 1300M. He comes up in class but carries a light weight and the step up to two-turns can suit. (4) BIG SMART lost her way a little after being promoted to this class but came back into form with a runner-up finish over 1400M on August 19th. She can build on that here. (6) CHEONDUNG OREUM and (8) ROSE GOLD others in the placing frame.

Selections (9) Thunder Prince (1) Wonderful Fox (4) Big Smart (6) Cheondung Oreum
Next Best 8, 3

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(6) G MOTION has a 3rd and a 2nd over 1800M and 1700M in two starts since being promoted to this class following a win at 1400M in May. In this company, he can be expected to be on or close to the speed and he has every chance of going all the way. The main danger is (10) MOONHAK AFLEET. He finally got his maiden win at the tenth time of asking over a mile on July 22nd and after two months off comes back to tackle two turns for the first time. He is up 4.5kg in the weights but a repeat isn't impossible. (4) GREEN POKJU was a winner at this class over 1700M as recently as June and shouldn't be overlooked in this company. (9) NAUI NARA and (8) TIZ ENERGY others to keep safe.

Selections (6) G Motion (10) Moonhak Afleet (4) Green Pokju (9) Naui Nara

Seoul Race 11: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(2) DOKKI BULPAE comes off the Triple Crown trail where after a disappointing run in the KRA Cup Mile, he then ran very pleasing 4th places in both the Korean Derby and the Minister's Cup. Draws nicely and while he carries top weight, he should be on pace and have too much for these. (10) HANGANG ACE has back-to-back wins since returning from seven months out in July. The latest was at class and distance on August 27th when prominent throughout. He comes up 3.5kg in the weights but a hat-trick isn't out of the question. (8) SMART JEONSA doesn't win out of turn, but he comes in off three consecutive placings at this class all over 1400M and can go close again. (4) STARLET and the only two-year-old in the race, (6) I'M JJANG others to looks out for.
