Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Three-year-old maidens in the opener with seven racing for the first time. (10) CHOEGANG TIME is the only one who has raced twice, finishing 4th on debut in September and then 5th at this distance in October. He has been back to trial since putting in an on-pace 2nd in his heat in a quick time, and he has solid claims here. The pick of the first timers is (6) MK LEE. It took him a couple of trials to get to the races, but he improved significantly in the second of them when an on-pace 4th in a decent time. Moon Se-young's presence aboard ensures he won't be missed in the betting market. (9) SEOBU TEUKSONG ran midfield on debut on December 3rd. She should have come on for that run and can get closer today. (1) HANGANG CAPTAIN was slow on debut to the extent that he was ordered back to trial. He got three months off after that and then won his December heat. That requalification run could have been clocked with a sundial, but he did it easy and should be a better proposition today. (7) LADY FOX another experienced one who can improve.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Maiden fillies here. (3) GOLDBERG raced three times as a juvenile, registering two 3rd place finishes and a 4th. The latest was at this distance on December 2nd when overcoming a wide draw to sit handy and run on well. She comes into a better gate today and can finally jackhammer the field. (8) BELOTERO was an improved 3rd when well backed on start number two on December 9th when racing handy throughout. She has the challenge of a wider draw here, but she should be in the mix. (6) QUEEN ABIGAIL has been getting closer across three starts so far, most recently a close 4th place at this distance. The time was slow, but she seems to be on the right trajectory and in this limited company can place. (11) WONDERFUL SPIRIT and (5) SAMAEBEONJJEOK others in the minor money frame.

Selections (3) Goldberg (8) Belotero (6) Queen Abigail (11) Wonderful Spirit

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Not a strong maiden. (4) BEST KINGDOM has got a bit far back in each of his races so far, but he has run on pleasingly enough most recently for 5th over 1200M on December 2nd. He draws well, the slight step up in trip can suit, and he has as much chance as any. (3) SOLAIRE ran 6th on debut over 1200M before improving to 3rd when stepped up to this trip at start number two on December 12th. He has shown to have a fast finish on him and will be running on late again here. (8) GEUMAK JINJU showed good speed in her first two starts to run 3rd and 2nd over 1000M. She has since put in fair performances at 1200M will probably start as betting favourite. (10) HEY MAMA is yet to finish in the top-two but she has finished between 3rd and 5th on no fewer than six occasions in her thirteen starts to date and this is the kind of company among which she can pick up a cheque. (2) CHEONGHAE JEIL may improve on an inauspicious debut.

Selections (4) Best Kingdom (3) Solaire (8) Geumak Jinju (10) Hey Mama

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(2) GEUMBIT GANGHO got his maiden win in October over 1300M and has subsequently run 2nd in both his tries at this class, both at 1300M and both times leading. He comes up slightly in trip and while he was a beaten favourite last time out, he is worth another chance here. (5) RAON THE DAESE found herself overmatched in the Listed Gwacheon Mayor's Trophy for juvenile fillies a month ago, but she has shown promise in her two runs leading up to it and in much more amenable company today, she is a danger. It would be a surprise if those two don't fill out the quinella, but (3) MY KHAN got his maiden win at start number three over 1300M on December 10th when settling handy and running on strong in a quick time on a dry track. He comes up in class and in distance, but a repeat isn't impossible. (11) ONE SPEAR has performed well since being belatedly promoted to this level and this is the kind of race in which he can pick up some prize money. (7) CLAIR POWER another in the minor hunt.

Selections (2) Geumbit Gangho (5) Raon The Daese (3) My Khan (11) One Spear

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Half of this small field are up in class, and it is wide open. (7) BEOLGYO VERITAS was a winner on debut over 1200M on December 3rd, stalking the leader for most of the way before running on. Despite having previously won a trial, he was sent off at big odds that day. Though up in class and slightly in trip, he won't here. (4) GIPPEUM HAMSEONG scored his maiden win at start number three on December 3rd, making all over 1300M. He comes up in class but is nicely drawn to be in pace and in this a long way. If you prefer experience at this class, then (5) GLOBAL JINGYEOK is the one for you. He has two 2nd places and a 4th from his latest three, all at this level, and he has the fastest time over the trip.  (6) SEOUL CHOEGANGJA and (8) GOLDEN DRAGON the next bests.

Selections (7) Beolgyo Veritas (4) Gippeum Hamseong (5) Global Jingyeok (6) Seoul Choegangja

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

This is another very tricky one. We'll give the eighteen-race (1) SPRING WATER a chance. He comes in off three consecutive 3rd place finishes, all at this class and distance and all in a good time. He comes into a great gate today and a similar run will put him in with an excellent chance. If he does find one or two quick again (and he might), (2) GEOMIBULU is a contender. She has mixed his form since coming back from four months off but comes in off a solid 3rd place at class and distance and the lightly raced four-year-old can go close again here. (6) HWASANGWIHWAN was 5th to Geomibulu's 2nd last time out, snapping a streak of three consecutive 2nd place finishes including one at class and distance. Like Spring Water, he is also a maiden – although in his case, from just six attempts – but it's not impossible here. (11) RAON AIR FORCE and (9) MENI SHARK other placing chances.

Selections (1) Spring Water (2) Geomibulu (6) Hwasangwihwan (11) Raon Air Force

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Another race without an obvious favourite. (6) MIGHTY JJANG is yet to win in five attempts, but he has been getting closer, and comes in off a smart 3rd at class and distance last time out. He can race on pace here and it can be his day. (10) COMPLETE STEP won her first two to get rapidly promoted to this level. She ran a decent 3rd place on her first try at this class over 1300M before a plain outing over the same distance in early November. She has had a couple of months off since, and back in trip today, she can be given another chance. (2) MUNHAK EAGLE comes up in class having scored in fine style over this distance on November 25th, making all. She comes down a full 3kg in the weights, she draws well, and she may even be the betting favourite to repeat. (9) NAMSAN JUMONG and (1) CHOIN GANGJA, the latter woefully out of form but does have ability and draws nicely, others to keep safe.

Selections (6) Mighty Jjang (10) Complete Step (2) Munhak Eagle (9) Namsan Jumong

Seoul Race 8: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Not a huge amount of winning form here and the pick is a maiden. (10) SINUI EREUM has raced five times and has been getting closer with his best being his latest, when 2nd over 1300M on December 9th, settling handy and running on. He steps up to 1400M for the first time and the Palace Malice gelding is the one to beat. (6) RIVER TAEYANG does have two wins on the board, albeit some starts back. He has been coming back into form in his latest two with a 3rd and a 4th both over this trip and in this company, he should be on pace and be in this a long way. (11) GEOLJAK CHOEGANG has hinted at ability over four starts so far and his 4th place last time out over 1200M suggests that he has some potential. This is his first try at 1400M and in limited company and with Moon aboard, he can go close. (2) THUNDER FLASH and (1) ALEXANDER ONE are others to consider for the minors.

Selections (10) Sinui Ereum (6) River Taeyang (11) Geoljak Choegang (2) Thunder Flash

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

A small field here and it's another competitive one. (5) WONPYEONG LIST won back-to-back races in September and October to get her chance in two Listed races. She finished midfield against the best of the track's juveniles in the NACF Chairman's Trophy before running 3rd with other fillies in the Gwacheon Mayor's Trophy on December 3rd. In shallower waters today, she can return to winning ways. (6) BLUE LEMON won her first two to get rapidly promoted to this class. She ran 3rd in her first try at it over 1300M before finishing 5th behind Wonpyeong List in the aforementioned Gwacheon Mayor's. She should be on pace here and be in this a long way. (3) VINCERO CAVALLO contested the first two legs of the juvenile series last term before winning over this distance at class 5 level making all in early December. He draws well and can measure up here. (8) EINSPANNER and (4) MR QUALITY others who can enter the calculations.

Selections (5) Wonpyeong List (6) Blue Lemon (3) Vincero Cavallo (8) Einspanner

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(2) SPO BLADE comes in having run 2nd behind the bang in form Sinhan Teuksong over 1400M on December 3rd. He was a winner at this class over a mile on November racing handy throughout and can come up to two-turns for the first time with confidence. The clear second pick is (4) FIRE POWER. He was a winner at class and distance on December 2nd coming from well off the pace, and while he does come up 3.5kg in the weights, he warrants respect here. It would be a big surprise of those two don't fill out the quinella as the form falls off rapidly. (5) WONDERFUL INDY will need to be forgiven his latest, but he does have form at class and distance in the shape of a 3rd place and is the clear next best. (6) BIG YAK and (3) ACHIM HAMSEONG other minor money hopes. (*Note that (7) SENSE JAENGI carries 55.5kg and not 51kg as some early versions of the racecard stated).

Selections (2) Spo Blade (4) Fire Power (5) Wonderful Indy (6) Big Yak

Seoul Race 11: Class 2 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(5) BEOLMAL DAEJANG returned from five months out to run a very good 2nd in a quick time on December 16th. He continues under a light weight and should strip fitter for the run, and he can win here. (4) LOVELY K enters off a class and distance 3rd place on November 12th having led for most of the way around. She has been coming back into form recently and from a good draw, she looks the main danger. (6) MUNHAK BOSS is a consistent type whose last start 3rd place at this class over a mile suggests that he should be taken seriously here, probably settling back and running on. (3) FLYING GOLD will need his latest forgiven but was going well before that and can challenge for the places. (8) COMPLETE TIME another in the frame.

Selections (5) Beolmal Daejang (4) Lovely K (6) Munhak Boss (3) Flying Gold
