Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Three-year-old maiden fillies in the opener with eight of the twelve racing for the first time. Of the experienced ones, three of them debuted in the same race over this distance on December 16th and it was (10) SEOHAE BADA who was the best, coming home in 3rd place having raced handy throughout. She won't have to come on much for that to win here. (6) NEOMANEULWIHAESEO is never going to be a race-caller's friend, but she was the quickest of the newcomers in trials, running with some experienced horses in her latest heat. She should be on pace and can be in this a long way first-up. (4) MAGIC SILENCE won a trial at the start of this month (which as a voluntary trial, won't be in all race cards) racing on pace and if she brings that form to the races, will go close. (11) ACAPEL and (3) BREEDO MAGICIAN, the latter "winning" one of the slowest trials on record on January 11th, others who hinted at ability.

Selections (10) Seohae Bada (6) Neomaneulwihaeso (4) Magic Silence (11) Acapel

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (1) RUBY PORT has a 5th and a pair of 3rd place finishes from three starts so far, most recently as beaten favourite over this distance in a similar all-filly race on December 30th when racing on pace. She draws nicely again and can be given another chance here. That will mean overturning the form on (6) DANAEUN REX, who ran a much-improved 2nd in that December 30th race. For the first time in her three starts, she began well and if she can do the same here, she can be in the finish again. (10) PINK WIND was 4th behind Danaeun Rex and Ruby Port in that race, her second consecutive 4th place finish and in this company, she should be matching or bettering those. (11) MAGIC PLEASURE and (5) STUNNING CHAMP the other logical place contenders.

Selections (1) Ruby Port (6) Danaeun Rex (10) Pink Wind (11) Magic Pleasure

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(2) GUKDAE FIGHTER ran a solid 2nd place on debut over this distance on December 31st, settling midfield and then running on. He should have derived benefit from that experience and from a great draw, he can go one better this time. (4) WONDERFUL SEEKING has shown progress across four prior appearances, culminating in a 2nd place over this distance on Christmas Day when handy throughout. She'll be on or close to the pace here and should be in this a long way. (6) DREAM CARD has a 5th and a 3rd place from two starts at 1200M. Both times he has got himself quite a long way back and the slight step up in trip may be to his benefit. (1) COMPLETE PARTY significantly improved at start number two and can maintain that momentum today. (7) TOJONG GLORY another in the hunt.

Selections (2) Gukdae Fighter (4) Wonderful Seeking (6) Dream Card (1) Complete Party

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(5) LUCKY PARTY come sin having secured his maiden win on New Year's Eve over 1300M at this class, when racing handy throughout. He has never finished worse than 4th, and while he comes up a full 3.5kg in the weights, he has every chance of winning again. (10) CITY KING got his maiden win two starts back before running 3rd on his first try at this class and distance on December 23rd when he led for much of the way. He has the challenge of the widest gate, but with a touch of luck at the start he can find a good position and can go close once more. He will need to overturn the form on (7) CUPID CHAMP. She was 2nd in that December 23rd race and while she is yet to win in eleven attempts, she has six top-three finishes and should be there or thereabouts again. (6) MIRAE TOWER and the up in class and curiously named (9) ENTROPY are others to consider.

Selections (5) Lucky Party (10) City King (7) Cupid Champ (6) Mirae Tower
Next Best 9, 11
Fast Start 5, 6, 7, 10

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) CHAMJOEUN JILJU took a couple of goes to figure things out, but she comes in off back-to-back wins, most recently on December 31st over 1200M when she took a narrow victory in an all-filly race at this level. She comes up 2kg in the weights in addition to taking on the boys here, but that's balanced a little by a great draw and she will be favourite to make it three in a row. (7) MOMO K is up in class following two 3rd places and a win from three prior outings. The win was on December 23rd, and it came over this trip when he made all. He'll be challenging Chamjoeun Jilju for the lead from the start and potentially all the way. (11) GREAT STORM is up in class without a win but has had several near-misses. He has posted good times for the distance and given he will be doing his best work late the wide gate shouldn't be a problem. (5) GEOSEN CHAMP and (6) STUNNING LADY, the latter second-up after a lengthy absence, are among others in the placing frame.

Selections (1) Chamjoeun Jilju (7) Momo K (11) Great Storm (5) Geosen Champ

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(5) BEOLGYO CHADOL was a winner at start number two on December 17th when he led all the way over this distance. He hung out badly in the closing stages ending the race on the grandstand rail but the facts that he still won comfortably and that he has since been back to trial, are enough for us to put him on top again here. The main danger is (7) CHEONGPAUI KKUM. He has a 3rd and two 4th place finishes in three goes at this level since getting his maiden win at this distance last October and has posted fair times. He can sit behind the speed here and be a threat. (3) ZIRCON has been working her way back towards another win and comes in off a narrow miss at class and distance on New Year's Eve when just getting edged into 2nd having come from off the pace. She should be in the mix again here. (6) FIJI BLADE and (1) YONGCHEON JISANG among others in the hunt.

Selections (5) Beolgyo Chadol (7) Cheongpaui Kkum (3) Zircon (6) Fiji Blade

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(2) WINNER YOUNG returned from eight months out following a midfield finish in the KRA Cup Mile, to run a very solid 2nd place over 1700M on December 23rd when he led until the closing stages. He should strip fitter for that run and will be strongly fancied to return to winning ways here. (1) DALMAJI is up in class following victory over 1400M on December 31st. He tackles two turns for the first time but is down significantly in the weights and from a good gate can be close from the start and be competitive. (6) GEUMA FIERY did have a go around 1700M long ago without success but is perhaps ready for another crack at a further distance following back-to-back 2nd places at 1200M and 1400M, both at this class. He carries his fair share of weight here but shouldn't be dismissed. (5) SEGWANG FIGHTER was an also-ran in the Breeders' Cup champion juvenile race in Busan in December and under a light weight and back in more amenable company can be given another chance. (7) THUNDER PRINCE is up in class but another to keep safe.

Selections (2) Winner Young (1) Dalmaji (6) Geuma Fiery (5) Segwang Fighter

Seoul Race 8: Class 3 (1600M) Handicap

(4) FURIOSA is due a return to the winner's circle here. It's been eleven starts between drinks, but she enters with recent form reading very consistently. She hasn't tackled the 1600M at Seoul before (she did unsuccessfully go to Busan for the Luna Stakes last year) but she has placed here at 1700M and 1800M. She draws nicely, carries a light weight and Moon Se-young climbs on. (9) TANGJA also enters with recent form reading very well including a last start win over 1200M at class 4 level on Christmas Day. That was his sixth consecutive top-three finish and while he is up in class and in distance, he could be competitive at a probable each-way price. (10) NONSTOP THUNDER is a two-time winner at this distance and was 4th on her first try at this class last month. She'll be dangerous here. (6) WONPYEONG COD and (2) G MOTION among others in the placing frame.

Selections (4) Furiosa (9) Tangja (10) Nonstop Thunder (6) Wonpyeong Cod
Next Best 2, 1
Fast Start 7, 8, 9, 10

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(9) GEOSEN BANGYEOK will be the favourite here. A winner of three from six, he was 4th in the Listed NACF Chairman's Trophy race for juveniles over 1200M last November before stepping up to this distance and winning at this class on Christmas Day. He comes up a full 4.5kg in the weights, but that shouldn't be a problem and he can win again here. Clear second pick is (5) DRONE KILLER. He comes up in class having won two of three starts so far, most recently over 1300M on December 17th when leading from gate to wire. He carries a light weight, he draws well to lead again, and he should measure up in this company. (1) BADEN BADEN won two of three starts up to April last year before a lengthy layoff. She looked well when wining a trial just before Christmas and she can be backed first up here. (8) DIA KEY and (6) MAUIWAY among the placing chances.

Selections (9) Geosen Bangyeok (5) Drone Killer (1) Baden Baden (8) Dia Key
Next Best 6, 11
Fast Start 2, 5, 6, 9

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

After a lacklustre debut, (7) YEONGUNG BUHWAL demonstrated the promise that he had shown in trials with a crushing win over this distance on December 16th, leading all the way and stopping the clock in a very quick time. He comes up in class but down in the weights and anything like that performance will see him comfortably home on top again. (2) HAENGBOKAN MUNMAK won just one of her first eleven starts but she enters here having won three in a row, all at this distance. She is going to need to go quicker to challenge the favourite, but she is nicely weighted and drawn and can be a danger. (6) GEUMA ALLURE mixes her form, but she has won two of her latest three, most recently at class and distance on December 23rd. She can settle handy here and can challenge at the business end. (8) HERO SARANG and (1) GLOBAL SUN others in the hunt.

Selections (7) Yeongung Buhwal (2) Haengbokan Munmak (6) Geuma Allure (8) Hero Sarang
Next Best 1, 3
Fast Start 4, 8, 9, 10

Seoul Race 11: Class 2 (2000M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(7) NAOL SNIPER was runner-up to Global Hit in the Korean Derby last June and enters having won back-to-back races over a mile at this class, most recently on Grand Prix Stakes day in December when he swooped late His only previous experience of 2000M was a midfield finish in the Minister's Cup but that shouldn't be a problem here and while he is at the top of the weights, he looks class 1 bound after winning this. (5) SIMON QUEEN beat several of these when 3rd at class and distance on New Year's Eve. The veteran loves to come from off the pace and she enters in very good form and under a light weight, she can challenge late again. (4) LUCKY SUN was an also-ran in the Derby but did finish ahead of Naol Sniper in the Minister's Cup. He is unbeaten in two starts since, both at a mile, and while that brings him up rapidly in class, he can measure up. (2) BEST TAP and (6) CONCORDE SPURT among others to keep safe.

Selections (7) Naol Sniper (5) Simon Queen (4) Lucky Sun (2) Best Tap
Next Best 6, 11
