Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Not the worst maiden to start with and (9) CUPID MIR will be favourite. He has made steady progress across three starts so far with his latest on January 20th being his best when an on-pace 3rd over 1300M. He should be on or close to the speed here and he can win. (12) RAON THE CLIPPER did nothing on debut last summer but was then put away for a few months. He trialled well in December and then ran a much-improved 3rd on his return over this distance on January 28th. He should strip fitter for that and can be a danger here. (3) MONEY TOUCH has shown signs of figuring things out in her latest two and should be challenging late on here. (8) GEUMAK MYEONGJANG and (4) MARU STAR others who have hinted at ability and shouldn't be far away.

Selections (9) Cupid Mir (12) Raon The Clipper (3) Money Touch (8) Geumak Myeongjang

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(4) YONGAM SESANG was 2nd on debut all the way back in May of last year but didn't re-appear again until this January 20th when he ran an on-pace 3rd over this distance. He was favourite that day but evidently needed the run and with some natural improvement, he will be the one to beat here. That will require him to overturn the form on (12) RAON THE SPRINTER. He too returned from a layoff in that January 20th race, in his case of five-months since an underwhelming debut. He won his December trial and then was a smart 2nd on his return, two-and-a-half lengths clear of Yongam Sesang. He has the challenge of the widest gate today, but he should be close. With a 2nd and a 4th over 1300M from his latest to, (10) STUNNING MONEY looks to be the logical third pick while (1) YEJIMONG and (2) CROQUIS are others who may warrant support on a place line.

Selections (4) Yongam Sesang (12) Raon The Sprinter (10) Stunning Money (1) Yejimong

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

It took (2) GWANGYAEUIHAMSEONG a couple of goes to figure things out but on the evidence of his latest two, he is getting there. He has recorded a 3rd and a 4th over 1300M both in fast times and running through the line well. He has by far the fastest final furlong average time and the slight step up in trip can suit. (11) BIG WILD is getting there too. She has recorded back-to-back 3rd places over this distance and while the times weren't quick, they were in much slower conditions than those experienced by the favourite. She has the challenge of a wild draw but should be a danger. (4) WONDERFUL FEVER will also be disputing favourite status. After running 3rd on debut, he was 2nd over this distance on January 26th, settling midfield and running on. Again, his times haven't been quick, but he will be competitive here. (12) LUCKY HIT and (5) CHRYSOL HERO other place chances.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(1) DAEMUL SOCKS comes in off a best to date 2nd place when stepped up to this distance on February 4th. He draws very nicely to be on the speed again and he can go one better this time. (9) NARAOLA enters following a 5th and a 4th from his latest two, most recently beating a couple of these on January 28th on his way to posting the quickest (it's all relative) time that any in this field has achieved for the 1400M. In this company, he should be able to get on to the pace from the start and will be in this a long way. (10) SHOUT KURO was away slowly and never a factor behind Naraola on January 28th. Prior to that though he had been in good form with a smart 3rd place over 1300M and he can be given another chance here. (4) SHARKTEN and (2) NEXTLEVEL among other minor money chances.

Selections (1) Daemul Socks (9) Naraola (10) Shout Kuro (4) Sharkten

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden with fire of the twelve racing for the first time. The heavy favourite will be (9) JINJU BIT. After a fair 6th of twelve on debut from the widest gate, she ran a close 2nd at start number two over this distance on January 26th having race don pace. Her times haven't been quick, but she has been racing in slow conditions and she should win this. Among the debut makers, (6) RUN TO QUEEN looks the best chance. She went through two trials, posting fair times in both, settling handy and running on. She should be nicely fit for this and can put in a bold showing. (4) DREAMMA has the fastest time among those who have tackled this distance already. That was when 5th on debut and a similar run here would put her in the mix. (10) CHAS QUEEN and newcomer (1) BREEDO QUEEN STAR other possibles for the minors.

Selections (9) Jinju Bit (6) Run To Queen (4) Dreamma (10) Chas Queen

Seoul Race 4: Class 4 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 75 Million

(12) WORLD BLAME came from well off the pace over 1200M on debut on January 20th to run 2nd with a super final furlong time and plenty of these behind him. The wide gate should prove no problem, the additional furlong can suit, and he can go one better here. Following a runner-up finish on debut, (6) BULTANEUN SIMJANG was sent off as favourite for that January 20th race but never played a huge role before running on for 4th. He is another for who the extra trip can suit, and he can be given another chance here. (11) SARANG WANGJA was 3rd in that race, like World Blame, coming from well back. That was his debut, and he was the longest shot on the board, but he will warrant more respect today. (10) DRAGON BULPAE and (5) GLOBAL CLASS the best of the rest.

Selections (12) World Blame (6) Bultaneun Simjang (11) Sarang Wangja (10) Dragon Bulpae

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Good race with ten of the twelve having finished within the top five on their respective latest starts, but (12) BIG MORE will be the clear favourite. After winning on debut at this distance in November when leading all the way, he ran 2nd and 4th over 1300M and 1400M in his first two tries at this class, both in quick times. He won from gate ten so the wide draw shouldn't be a problem and he is the one to beat here. (3) HANEUL EUTTEUM similar is one for one at this distance having scored on debut. He ran led on his first try at this class over on January 5th and led before appearing to throw in the towel in the home straight and finished 3rd. He was sent back to trial, which he won leading all the way and if he maintains his interest the entire way around, he can be a danger here. (5) SAMGIM STAR and (2) YEONGGWANGUITOUCH came home 3rd and 4th when they raced each other (and a couple of others who go here) on January 19th and both should be in the money mix here. Up in class, (9) FLEX DAY is another to keep safe.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Tricky one but (2) PHOENIX CLASS has as good a chance as any. She got her win at this distance at class 6 level last August but has only raced three times since, most recently on Christmas Day when she led for much of the way around, ultimately finishing 2nd. She draws nicely to lead again, and this time can go one better. (8) SMART CAT has a very similar record, winning at class 6 level at this distance and racing three times since with the most recent of them being s 2nd place. He likes to come form off the pace and will be a big danger late on. (7) CHEONGRYANGSAN remains a maiden but has shown he can be competitive at this level when 4th behind Phoenix Class on Christmas Day and he can go close again. (6) CHEONGPAUI KKUM and (10) WONDERFUL SHADOW others in the hunt.

Busan Race 4: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(6) BANG BANG BANG comes up rapidly in class having won her first two starts over 1200M and 1400M, first settling midfield and running on and the next time from stalking the leader and proving too strong. She comes up to a mile for the first time and faces considerably stronger opposition, but she carries a light weight, and she can make it three from three. (4) SUCCESS BAEKPA is a little more experienced but is similarly rapidly up in class having won his latest two at 1300M and 1400M. He too tackles the mile for the first time but can be a danger. (8) FANTASTIC WORLD is an American import who has raced just the twice, winning at start number two over 1200M on January 12th at this class. His running style suggests distance won't be a problem and he can win again. (12) WORLD DRAGON and (10) LOVE KING IJI others to keep safe.

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(3) GEUMJEONSA won his first three races (with a gap of nine months between the first and second of them) before running a very close 2nd on his first try at this class over 1400M on December 30th. He comes up to the mile for the first time as well as coming up 2kg in the weights, but he will be expected to settle just behind the speed here and to return to winning ways. (1) NANO MASIN is a US import who began at this class and while he is yet to win in six attempts, he has placed and from the inside gate he should be on pace and be in this a long way. (7) OHRA KHAN is also an import, and he was a strong class and distance winner on January 13th. He has the steadier this time of coming up a full 5.5kg in the weights, but he can be competitive again. (5) LUCKY PARTY and (8) SUNGAN TOUCH are the other place chances.

Selections (3) Geumjeonsa (1) Nano Masin (7) Ohra Khan (5) Lucky Party

Busan Race 5: Class Open (1400M) Special Weight A / Gyeongnam Shinmun Trophy (L) / KRW 200 Million

Busan's Classic trial. (9) HANGANG CLASS is a winner of four from five and claimed the title of Champion Juvenile with victories in the Listed Gimhae Mayor's Trophy and then the G2 Breeders' Cup, both times sitting handy and running on to win by dominant margins, the latter over this distance. He makes his three-year-old debut here and will be the prohibitive favourite to win. Of course, things can change very quickly with these young three-year-olds. (6) DOCTOR KINGDOM was 2nd in the Gimhae and then 3rd in the Breeders' Cup and has raced once this term already, finishing 4th when stepped up to 1800M at class 3 level in January. He was getting weight that day but should be a factor here. (5) WONDERFUL LEAR split Hangang Class and Doctor Kingdom in finishing 2nd in the Breeders' Cup in December. A subsequent class 3 attempt at a mile saw him finish midfield but back against his age group, he should be firmly in the hunt. (1) RISE THE THRONE and (8) SEVEN DRAGON didn't go in those juvenile races but have made strides through the winter and can be competitive.

Selections (9) Hangang Class (6) Doctor Kingdom (5) Wonderful Lear (1) Rise The Throne

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (1400M) Special Weight A / Sports Seoul Trophy (L) / KRW 200 Million

Seoul's Classic trial. (7) NICE TIME won the Listed Munhwa Ilbo Trophy over 1200M before running 5th behind Hangang Class in the G2 Breeders' Cup at Busan in December, his only defeat in five starts so far. He bounced back on his three-year-old debut, beating a class 4 field over this distance on January 7th in fine style when ridden further forward than usual, and he will be hot favourite to win here. (1) MEGA DRAGON was 6th in the Breeders' Cup but has raced twice this term already and won over a mile at class 4 level on February 3rd. He looks to have more improvement in him and draws very nicely on the inside. (3) ZIGGURAT beat Mega Dragon at class 4 over this distanc eon January 13th. He since acquitted himself well in a trial alongside Stakes winning filly Wonderful Slew and can be a factor. (5) GEOLJAK ONE won the Listed Gwacheon Mayor's Trophy for juvenile fillies last December and along with (6) CHADOL DIA, could well have a say.

Selections (7) Nice Time (1) Mega Dragon (3) Ziggurat (5) Geoljak One

Busan Race 6: Class 2 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(1) WORLD LEGEND comes up in class following a win and a runner-up finish from his latest two at a mile and at this distance. He comes down a full 5.5kg in the weights and comes into a very good gate to potentially lead all the way. (12) STAR MATTA was a class and distance winner in December with plenty of today's rivals behind him and beat plenty again when 3rd over 2000M on New Year's Eve and 2nd at this distance in a quick race on January 21st. He carries his fair share of weight here, but the wide gate won't bother him, and he may well start as favourite. (8) MENIFEE SONG ran a fair 4th coming off the pace at 1400M on his first try at this class on January 5th. He may offer some interest at an each-way (or possibly better) price. (5) CARPE BABEL and (7) B.J. CHIEF others firmly in the hunt.

Selections (1) World Legend (12) Star Matta (8) Menifee Song (5) Carpe Babel

Seoul Race 8: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only here. It took (4) AWESOME CREDIT several trials to get to the races, but it was worth the wait because she was a winner on debut over 1200M on January 13th racing on pace and scoring by plenty. She comes up in class and in distance here but that's balanced by a light weight and a good draw, and she can make it two from two. (2) WONDERFUL SPIRIT is similarly up in class following a maiden win, in her case at the fourth time of asking. It was over this distance, and she swept home form off the pace. She can still have improvement to come and can be the testing material here. (6) HAPPY PLAY loves finishing 3rd, something she has done on five of eight occasions and there is every chance of a repeat here. (9) RUBY PORT and (1) ARCH MEMORY others who can challenge for the minors.

Seoul Race 9: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(6) SEIRENE is yet to win in six attempts, but she has finished in the top-three on no fewer than five occasions, including last time out when runner-up over 1400M at this class. She comes up to 1700M for the first time and it could well be what she needs to get over the line on top. (1) LOVE MUNMAK was a winner over 1400M at class 6 level two starts back before running 4th when stepped up to this class and distance on January 28th, coming from well off the pace and running on well. She comes into a much better gate today and an get closer. (9) GREAT STORM was a winner at this class over 1300M on January 27th, coning from off the pace. He comes up to two-turns for the first time and is up 3kg n the weights, but he can be competitive. (4) REAL PACK and (2) MAGIC STRONG others in the hunt.

Seoul Race 10: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

Fillies and mares only. (6) ECLIPSE BERRY ran 3rd in the Rookie Stakes and then 2nd in the both the Listed Munhwa Ilbo and Gwacheon Mayor's Trophies. She then returned to winning ways over 1400M at class 4 level on January 21st, leading all the way. One of the leading contenders for this year's Triple Tiara races she swerves the boys in today's Sports Seoul Trophy and that is a decent indicator that she will win this. (1) NONSTOP THUNDER has won three of her last five including her latest over a mile at tis class on January 27th. She comes up a full 4kg in the weights, but that's balanced a little by a nice draw and she is probably the main danger. (5) BEAT RUNNER was 3rd behind Nonstop Thunder in that race four weeks ago and can go close again. (3) YOUNGYOUNG SOCKS and the up in class (9) TIZ INDY others in contention for the minors.

Seoul Race 11: Class 1 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 110 Million

It's hard to go past (10) SPOT FLATTER in the last. He enters having won at class and distance on Christmas Eve when he came from well off the pace to score. He carries almost exactly the same light weight and given his racing style, the wide draw wont matter. (9) COMPLETE VALUE returns to action for the first time since last August. He has won two recent trials and while he carries his fair share of weight here, he can go well first-up in this company. (3) MIGHTY LOOK comes up in class and in distance compared to recent starts but is down 4kg in the weights and that should be enough to bring him into contention in what isn't the strongest of class 1 fields. (2) IRON SOCKS races for the first time since last May but like Complete Value has been through two trials (the latter the same heat) and may offer some each-way value. (8) COSMO another in the frame.
