Preview and form for Greyville

Preview and form for the All Weather and Turf meeting at Greyville on Friday night. Selections by Warren Lenferna.

Race 1

Preview: LUNA CHILD caught the eye when making a very pleasing introduction to racing. She ran around the turn on debut at this tough track and did very well – if she takes to the poly she should be very hard to beat here. BELIEVETHISBEAUTY ran a fair race when making her local debut last time and has room to improve big time on that – big runner. EXCELLISTIC has tons of scope to improve on her debut run and MINNIE THE MOOCHER must be included in the quartet as her debut run was good and it was on the poly – last run she was a bit disappointing but tonight back on the poly can bounce right back to best. (Warren Lenferna 5-1-4-7)

Race 2

Preview: ESTEEMAL more than likely needed her local run and was far from disgraced running a cracker behind Victory Trip. She should be cherry ripe today and if taking to the poly should be hard to oppose. EXQUISITE EIGHT is coming to hand now and should run another forward race. ON THE BOUNCE Tries blinkers and the poly track from an okay draw and should once again be right there at the finish. ALLY WHOOPEE is a natural inclusion in quartet perms. (Warren Lenferna 3-4-9-1)

Race 3

Preview: SNIPER SHOT brings some top and well franked form into this race. He is clearly well above average and has greater things to conquer ahead of him. He reverts to the poly from a good draw and should have the measure of this field. Sniper Shot’s stable mate SIMPLY SCRUMPTIOUS should be right there at the finish. She was beaten by what looks a decent sort last time and is one to follow. COLOMBINA and STRONG ‘N BRAVE are making their debuts and could be worth having a look at. (Warren Lenferna 1-5-1-11-10)

Race 4

Preview: CATHRINEOFARAGON brings consistent form into the race and ran a great race last time. She loves the poly and is one for the short list. OSTENTATION is another that goes well on the poly and seldom runs a bad race. She should be right there at the finish. VARSONIC found all the betting support on debut and won accordingly – she is quick. She was then tried on the grass and failed to fire but tonight back on the poly, she should run a much better race. (Warren Lenferna 8-1-6-11)

Race 5

Preview: SPUN OUT ran very well last time and showed what he is capable of – Anthony Delpech retains the ride and this son of Hard Spun should be able to go one better and win! VESTED INTEREST is like an ATM for his owner and another honest run can be expected. His maiden win is on the horizon. Stable mates KALI’S CHAMP and SEATTLE SPELL have disappointed in the sense that they have not won yet but both look to have very bright place chances. (Warren Lenferna 2-6-1-4)

Race 6

Preview: UNDER THE ROSE is taking her time to win but is consistent and tonight looks to be her night to bloom. ALL HONESTY has done well with blinkers and gets the added advantage of the best draw. She is always there and thereabouts and has a big chance. VICTORY CROSS, ON GOSSAMER WINGS, QUEENS CHAPEL and PALACE MYSTERY are worth including in the quartet. (Warren Lenferna 2-1-4-10)

Race 7

Preview: Trainer Justin Snaith holds a very strong hand in this race the Grade 2 Betting World 1900! PRINCE OF WALES really caught the eye when making his local debut last time finishing well up the inside fence to finish third behind stable mate Elusive Silva – his Cape Town form is solid and he seems to be a horse with ability. Based on his last run, he can turn the tables on his stable mate and win however that won’t be easy as ELUSIVE SILVA has been so impressive when winning his last two. His most recent win was when making his local KZN debut in the Sledgehammer – he thrashed the opposition winning by nearly two lengths in a common canter. MASTER SWITCH brings strong Highveld form into the race and is one not to be taken lightly. IT’S MY TURN (another Snaith runner) has run behind some top horses recently and has to be considered as well. (Warren Lenferna 4-7-3-1)

Race 8

Preview: SECRET CAPTAIN is finally starting to live up to his reputation. He ran an absolute cracker over 1200m when returning from a rest and followed that up with a great second in the Guineas finishing second behind Janoobi – he has scope to improve again especially over the distance he gets tonight – he can win but it is a tough race. EDICT OF NANTES is talented and won well last time in the Cape. He returns from a bit of a rest and has top weight to carry but he nevertheless should be right there – this is his local debut and whatever happens tonight he should come on a ton from it – big runner. BOLD VIKING brings solid Highveld form into the race and has to be respected. CROWD PLEASER has a chance but both his wins have been on the poly track. (Warren Lenferna 6-1-3-2)

Race 9

Preview: PROSPECT STRIKE has finished just off the likes of Mac De Lago, Romany Prince, Kangaroo Jack and Amazing Strike. He gets the best draw tonight and the services of Smanga Khumalo and looks ready to run an absolute cracker. He is my first choice. WINTER PRINCE Can be forgiven his dismal local debut last time as we can see by his form he is way better than that and a much smarter run can be expected from him tonight. BARITONE, THE CONGLOMERATE, LALA, FIFTY CENTS, UNION JACK and RUN RHINO RUN are all worth a mention and including in the back end of the quartet. A competitive race. (Warren Lenferna 8-3-2-1)

Race 10

Preview: A hard Listed race to close off proceedings at Greyville tonight. SILVER STRIPE is doing well and winning well recently and looks to be the right one despite her bad draw. NIMA, PARTY CRASHER and LITTLE CHAPEL all have a chance of being right there at the finish. (Warren Lenferna 11-10-12-5)
