Although the majority of racing fans will be tuned into the 1000 Guineas card at Newmarket, there is also exciting Group Three action at Leopardstown on Sunday.

Each year, one of the most significant Derby Trials is the 1m2f Group 3 Derby Trial Stakes (3:25). Donnacha O'Brien's Proud And Legal will be looking to stamp his Derby credentials with a comfortable success. A full brother to Black Type performers Mekong River and Simply Beautiful, the colt ended his season with a win in the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud over a mile and is expected to relish the additional stamina test.

Joseph O'Brien fields a promising maiden Up And Under, who finished second in the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes on his second career start. He looked a bit green in the closing stages when moving left under pressure and should improve. Tower of London was disappointing when last of five in the Group 2 Juvenile Stakes behind Auguste Rodin but the run seemed too poor to be true after a very impressive debut victory.

American Sonja needs to make a successful transition into Black Type company in the 1m Group 3 Cornelscourt Stakes (2:15) if she is to take up her entry in the Irish Group 1 1000 Guineas. The filly was a convincing three-and-a-quarter length winner for trainer Joseph O'Brien in a Gowran handicap over seven furlongs on seasonal reappearance and is clearly well-regarded by connections.

She will face Ger Lyon's Zarinsk who recorded a Listed success over seven furlongs at the course in September before a fair return to action when third behind Never Ending Story in the Group 3 1000 Guineas Trial.

In the 1m Group 3 Amethyst Stakes (2:50), Goldana will be looking to continue her winning run. A Listed victor in Germany, she made a successful start for her new trainer Joseph O'Brien when taking the Group 3 Gladness Stakes on heavy ground at the Curragh. She has entries in various Group events over the summer and looks an exciting prospect.

Sheila Lavery's New Energy holds top-level form as last year's Irish 2000 Guineas second, where he out-ran odds of 40/1. He has shown since that he is probably not up to winning at Group 1 standard but as runner-up in the Group 2 Park Stakes in September, this would be within his capabilities.
