Untapable In Top Form For Haskell Inviational

Kentucky Oaks winner Untapable, a perfect four-for-four in 2014, is ready to challenge the males in the $1 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park.

Her connections plan to send the 3-year-old filly to Monmouth Park on Thursday after she worked strongly at Saratoga on Monday.

Ron Winchell's homebred daughter of Tapit worked an easy four furlongs in 50.28 under exercise rider Mike Callaham on Saratoga’s Oklahoma training track.

"So far everything is good. She cooled out good," said Darren Fleming, assistant to trainer Steve Asmussen.

"She's on schedule to ship on Thursday morning."

Untapable, racing in all graded stakes this season, has won her outings by a combined 31 lengths.

She won the G1 Kentucky Oaks and G1 Mother Goose Stakes in her previous two starts.

The Haskell will be the filly's first try against males, but Asmussen is no stranger to crossing that line.

In 2009 he sent Kentucky Oaks and Preakness Stakes winner Rachel Alexandra to Monmouth for the Haskell, and she cruised to a six lengths victory on her way to Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old filly honors.

Untapable will try to become the third filly to win the Haskell and join Hall of Fame member Serena's Song (1995) in the record books.

"It worked out pretty well for Rachel Alexander," Fleming said.

"There are no compunctions about sending her to the Haskell."

Will Take Charge was another big namew to work at Saratoga, breezing five furlongs on Monday in anticipation of his next start in the G1 Whitney Invitational on August 2.

Will Take Charge, US 3-year-old champion male of 2013, is trained by D. Wayne Lukas who said the colt will have one more work before the $1.5 million Whitney.

"I took him out to breeze a little bit; he looked good," Lukas said.

Will Take Charge has raced five times this year in top company for a victory in the G2 Oaklawn Handicap and seconds in three G1 events: the Donn, Santa Anita and Stephen Foster Handicaps.

Will Take Charge will be facing Palace Malice and other top older horses in the Whitney.

"We're the champion. We don't give a damn who shows up. Bring them on,” Lukas said.

"Let's see what we've got. There's no place to hide in Saratoga
