All three - contenders for 2014 Horse of the Year honours - are under consideration for the $500,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita on February 7.

The trio last met in the controversial BC Classic won by Bayern at Santa Anita on November 1. California Chrome was third with Shared Belief fourth as favourite after a rough start involving Bayern compromised his chances.

California Chrome and Shared Belief have since rebounded with G1 victories while Bayern is yet to race.

California Chrome won the Hollywood Derby on grass at Del Mar on November 29 while Shared Belief captured the Malibu Stakes on the opening day of the Santa Anita winter meet on Boxing Day.

Bayern worked at Santa Anita on Saturday over four furlongs under regular rider Martin Garcia.

"He went nice," Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said of Bayern, who worked without blinkers.

"I took the blinkers off so he could work slower, so that was good; but I'll put them back on when he runs.”

At Los Alamitos California Chrome worked five furlongs in blinkers under regular rider Victor Espinoza.

"He worked great," said assistant trainer Alan Sherman, trainer Art Sherman's son. "The San Antonio should be a great race if everything comes together."

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer outlined his plans for Shared Belief a day after his win in the Malibu Stakes.

"He'll go back to Golden Gate to train as usual, but we'll look at the San Antonio for sure. We'll look at it pretty hard,” he said.
