California Chrome Suffers Cannon Injury

US Horse of the Year and dual classic winner California Chrome is expected to be out for the remainder of the 2015 season after x-rays revealed a cannon bone bruise.

California Chrome was scheduled to race at Royal Ascot in the G1 Prince Of Wales Stakes but was withdrawn with a foot abscess. He arrived back in the US last week to prepare for a start in the GI Arlington Million.

The chestnut was second in the G2 San Antonio Invitational on February 7 and runner-up in the G1 Dubai World Cup on March 28 before travelling to the UK.

Trainer Art Sherman said: "He's probably out for the rest of the year.

"If they decide to run him next year, he'll be fine.

"The owners haven't made up their mind, but I'll know in the next couple days.

"Everything else is healthy.

"The horse will be fine. These things heal up.”
