Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer gave owner Rick Porter a beaming report after Songbird ran a sharp four furlongs at Santa Anita on Sunday in 46.4 seconds.

“Hollendorfer told me this horse is unbelievable," Porter said.

"He was telling me how fit she was after the fever but said she was just going to do an easy half.

“He said she didn't look like she was going that fast. If she was breezing that easy first work back I think nobody can keep up with her."

Porter said the G2 Summertime Oaks at Santa Anita on June 18 was the hopeful target for Songbird's return.

“After that there's a lot of good races on the East Coast,”Porter said.

"The Summertime is the first thing we can get that she might be ready for," Porter said.

"We just want to get her running and then we're going to take her east.

"I want to run her against the boys at the right time but I want to see her run against the best girls first.”

Porter outlined Saratoga’s G1 Coaching Club Ameri¬can Oaks on July 24 and the G1 Alabama Stakes on August 20 as ideal targets followed by the G1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing in September.

“We definitely want to run in the Cotillion. I need to see what the timing is to make sure we run there," he said.

Songbird is yet to be fully tested in all her seven wins by open margins and is rated one of the best sophomores in the US in either division.
