Few Kentucky Derby trials have as long or storied a history as the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes. Run at Keeneland on the dirt, it is Kentucky's premier prep race for the Triple Crown.

California Chrome  won here on his way to wins at the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.He then went on to win the Dubai World Cup in 2016, above, becoming America's all-time leading horse in prize money won in the process.

As well as the $1m Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, the racecard on 8th April also features the G1 Madison, two Grade 2 races and one Grade 3.

Keeneland's Spring Meet starts on Friday 7th April with the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes, run over 1 1/16m for fillies; plus the G3 Transylvania and the Lafayette Stakes. It encompasses 19 Stakes races, over 15 days until 23rd April.
