Arcangelo   will be looking to make trainer Jena Antonucci just the second female trainer to ever win the Classic. Having already seen off most of his domestic rivals, Arcangelo's stiffest competition appears to be coming from beyond American borders.

One of these competitors is Royal Ascot's Prince of Wales Stakes winner, Mostahdaf , who will be making the journey over from Britain and with veteran superstar jockey Frankie Dettori on board there is hope that he can become the first British horse to win the Classic. Dettori, one of horse racing's all-time greats, famously won the Classic back in 2008 with Raven's Pass. Now, as he looks to round out his career in style, what better way to add another exclamation point to a stellar season by claiming a race considered by many to be the premier thoroughbred contest of the year.

However, perhaps the most exciting horse lined up for the Classic is the Japanese export, Ushba Tesoro. After switching from turf to dirt, trainer Noboru Tagaki has overseen transformative results winning 6 out of his 7 races (including this year's Dubai World Cup), earning more than $9.2 million so far
