Essential Quality all quality

The son of the mare Delightful Quality did his mother proud in the Travers at Saratoga.

The 3yo, who was 2yo of the year last year and looks very likely to be the 3yo of the year this year, got his 8th win from 9 starts finishing a neck ahead of Midnight Bourbon who laid down a proper challenge with the final verdict being a neck.

Going through the Saratoga card, Chad Brown missed out on the trifecta in the Baliston Spa as his three runners finished first and third – the win went to Viadra, the third to Kaliofornia Queen and in between them was the interloper High Opinion, 8/1, in a tight finish with the winner and only a nose between them.

As expected Gamine had no problems in the Ballerina getting an easy win over Lake Avenue 18/1with Ce Ce third.

The Forego was a thrilling battle between Yaupon and Firenze Fire which was so close towards the finish that Firenze Fire tried to bite Yaupon and got his bridle – Yaupon held on to win which was probably just as well as Firenze Fire might have been DQd.  Firenze Fire himself was a victim of an attack from another horse in one of his earlier races.

The H. Allan Jerkins went as predicted with Jackie's Warrior getting the win over Life Is Good.

And in the Personal Ensign Letruska continued her good run of form with Bonny South 23/1 second and Royal Flag 10/1 third.

And the Sword Dancer saw Gufo win from Japan with Cross Border third.

At Del Mar Ginobili 13/1 showed his liking for Del Mar as he chalked up another win at that track in the Pat O'Brien.  CZ Rocket was second with Flagstaff a head back in third.
