This used to be the end of the flat season with the English and Irish Cesarewitches.

However that season has now been extended and we have the English version on Saturday at Newmarket and the Irish version at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Newmarket card of course contains a couple of good G3s but the G1 Dewhurst. 

First of the G3s is the Zetland for 2yos over 2000m with 9 runners most of whom are going up in trip for this.  Hafit is one of several Dubawis going round and is on 7/11 for Appleby-Buick.  Stablemate Goldspur is on 10/3 with James Doyle in the irons.  Aidan O'Brien is sending Bluegrass, a Galileo colt, and Ryan Moore to partner him.  They are on 7/2, and we think Andrew Balding's Sir Percy colt Berkshire Rebel could be worth a go at 12/1.

The Autumn Stakes is over 1600m, also for the 2yos, with a field of 11 headed by another Dubawi Coroebus on 10/11 for Appleby-Buick and a c&d win already in his CV.  Andrew Balding saddles Imperial Fighter, by The Gurkha, with Oisin Murphy on board.  11/2.  Dubai Poet by Lope de Vega is on 7/1 for Varian-Atzeni and United Nations, another Galileo, on 8/1 for O'Brien-Moore.

The Dewhurst is also for the 2yos over 1499m and has attracted 8 runners headed by the unbeaten Native Trail for Appleby-Buick on 8/11 – he's by Oasis Dream.  Bayside Boy is on 9/2 for Varian-D. Egan – he's by New Boy, and Straight Answer is by Kodiak and is saddled by Ger Lyons with Colin Keane to ride.

The Cesarewitch is over 3600m with a full field of 34 runners, which to us means a sharp pin job for the selections.  However the market has M C Muldoon on 9/2 for Willie Mullins and Ryan Moorre.  Buzz is 6/1 for Henderson-Oisin Murphy, Calling The Wind 7/1 – Richard Hughes and Pat Dobbs, and our roughies here Great White Shark on 18/1 and Scaramanga 20/1.

The Irish version is over 3200m and has 30 runenrs.  Turnpike Trip is on 7/1, Benaud 9/1, Azallya 10/1 and National Ballet 16/1.
