All systems go at Kempton

While other jurisdictions have capped or banned crowds, Kempton has escaped this and will go ahead as "normal".

Let's hope it doesn't turn into a super-spreader event as it is very popular.

The big race is of course the King George V1 Chase, Gr 1, with this year's version to be contested by 9 runners, one of whom has won this twice before an another won it once.

Favourites at the moment are Clan des Obeaux, the horse who won in 2018 and 2019.  Harry Cobden has the ride for Paul Nicholls.  He's on 3/1 together with Minella Indo, to be ridden by Rachael Blackmore who has recently scooped 3 sportsperson of the year in both Ireland and the UK.

Last year's winner Frodon has a strong following and is on 5/1, and we have a roughie here in Saint Calvados on 20/1.

There are two other Gr 1 races on the card – the Kauto Star Novices' Chase and the Christmas Hurdle.  There are only 4 starters in the Kauto Star with Bravemansgame on 4/5 for Harry Cobden and Paul Nicholls, with Ahoy Senor on 6/5 the main challenger.  The Hurdle has only 5 so won't be much of a lead to Cheltenham.  Eptante is a very reliable hurdler and is on 10/11 for Henderson and Nico de Bonville and we have a bit of a roughie here in Soaring Glory for the Jonjo O'Neills père et fils.
