Santa Anita Meeting starts on Boxing Day

There are 3 Gr1 races on the card two for 3yos on the dirt and one for fillies on the turf.

The La Brea is for the fillies and 7 are in the line up.  It is over 1400m so we see Private Mission dropping back in trip from her disappointment in the Breeders' Cup over a longer trip and this should be easier.  Flavien Prat has the ride – in fact he has the ride on the favourites in all 3 Gr1s.  They are on 8/5.

She's by Into Mischief as is Missy P, trained by Richard Mandella and Mike Smith to ride and they are on 5/2.

The 3yo colts and geldings run in the Malibu and it too has 7 runners.  Flightline is supposed to be something special having won previous starts by large margins and is on 4/6 with John Sadler legging up Prat.  Dr Schivel is by Violence and was 2nd in the BC Sprint and he's on 5/2 with Juan Hernandez riding.

The American Oaks is over 2000m on the turf and has a field of 10 3yo fillies.  Phil d'Amato has a couple of interesting runners here in Going Global and Burgoo Alley.  Going Global arrived from Ireland without much form but seems to like it in the US and has started to accumulate wins.  Prat rides the daughter of Mehmas and they are on 9/5.  Stablemate Burgoo Alley is by Footstepsinthesand and is on 6/1.

Chad Brown is sending over Fluffy Socks who is quite the commuter having raced in Del Mar on a couple of occasions and ran third in the Del Mar Oaks.  She's by Slumber and Mike Smith has the ride with 3/1 the Morning Line quote.  Closing Remarks is by Vronsky and has been second to Going Global on three occasions – she's also on 6/1.
