The Welsh Grand National can turn up some great stories.

Dream Alliance was the classic, but this year's edition has been another for former jockey Sam Thomas who up to now has been best known as Denman's jockey.

Sam has now turned to training in Wales, not far from Chepstow, and this has been his biggest success to date.  Iwilldoit won the trial but was still under the radar for this but he proved to have the stamina to survive what was a tough race with only 5 horses finishing.

Stan Sheppard rode beautifully and made sure his mount had enough gas in the tank to finish 9 lengths ahead of The Highland Hunter.  There was a bit of excitement when Truckers Lodge got the third spot by a head from Achille and the only other finisher was Secret Reprieve.
