Sha Tin starts with two G3s
Celebrating the start of the year and the horses' birthdays, Sha Tin hosts an interesting card.
But it is a sad reflection of the times when they cannot attract a full field to their top races. The first of the G3s is the Chinese Club Challenge Cup over 1400m and it only has 7 runners.
Both Excellent Proposal Size-Moreira on 2.1 and Duke Wai O'Sullivan-Chau 7.1 have strong claims here. We are leaning towards the fav here but has to be a quinella race.
The other G3 the Bauhinia Sprint Trophy over 1000m has only 8 runners but at least that gives the dividends a chance. Master Eight is odds-on here as he goes for a 5th consecutive win for Lor-Moreira with not much between Super Wealthy 9.4 and Sight Success 9.7 according to the market.
The get-out is Race 10 Class 2 over 1400m which gets 11 starters (this is one of the more popular trips so where are all the horses!) so we will go for a beaten favourite last time out in Blaze Warrior Size-Moreira on 4.1. He and Packing Victory 5.2 Shum-Badel have been working well. Tempest Express has a bit of a chance here on 13.0 with the current favourite in the market Fantastic Treasure on 3.8 for Hayes-Shinn and Blake Shinn now starting to get the wins a riders of his skills should get and this led to a 4-timer in the dirt meet last week.
